Machine Head Burn My Eyes
Voto:
post-metal before its time, Machine Head?! ... but look, those were the White Zombie :) ... great CD, I haven't listened to it in a while, even though it sounds a bit "catchy"

Still with the "subjective taste" ... :/ and then you keep playing the victim (people come to debaser to trash the DT, right?)... don’t say others are shooting it down when you’re the first to do so. Look, I know "Awake," "Images&Words," "Metropolis pt.2" well; I’ve also heard the latest ones, but they disappointed me. But damn, try reading any review of Slayer and see what they write in the comments before crying about your "poor" band. Obviously, people here like to criticize everything that can be criticized; you’ll definitely never read the "nonsense" and "banalities" written here on your beloved webzines... I’m talking about what is art (relatively, of course) and what isn’t, got it? It's not a matter of taste... I also like the first Sex Pistols album, but beyond its historical value, I don’t consider it art at all... And how boring I am, right? I'm worse than hives because unlike you "civil" people (?) who cling to minutiae, I speak the bitter truth (and I don’t do it with pleasure, but when it needs to be said, it needs to be said), and I don’t care how many Petrucci posters you might have in your room or how much you think he’s a megastar. I mentioned Zappa as an avant-garde progressive figure, and then I didn’t name the usual suspects (but do you really know "Biglietto per l'inferno" and the albums by Voivod? Please, don't even mention them among the trashed...). To contradict me, you might even say Britney Spears is a black metal singer. In short, I’m ignorant, but I’m also conceited; I act like a great messiah, yet I understand nothing… PERHAPS this is typical of someone with varied opinions, meaning being accused of the most different things. And this doesn’t happen to those who write what their "role" as a fan requires them to write. It’s pointless; we keep repeating the same things: now even the ramblings about democracy... let’s listen to whatever we want, but enough with the shots... and stop insinuating that I’m AntiDt because I’m not... evidently at least one other person thinks like me; do you really think I spend my life making different nicknames and repeating the same things? Do you think I have problems talking with the same nickname?!

I’m curious to hear the complete album; I had only "tasted" the EP and I liked it: probably the change of guitarists plays a big role (Benton on bass, you know...) The drummer on the live CD was lethal... The same goes for Cannibal Corpse: they make (almost) all the same albums, and we’re happy that way. I’m struck by the review, which rejects the usual "Deicide rock" and "60 minutes of fucking music" and prefers "nice tributes to Satan" :) (!!!), "divine dissing" and once again "but in the end, we love him just the way he is" (!!!). I have the impression that you’ve rounded up a LOT in excess, especially since they don’t seem to have changed one bit, and I believe there are a few flaws... good review anyway, I’ll wait to hear the album.

I do not share the assessment made; it seems to be done "with an axe," regardless of the content. It's been a long time since I listened to "Schizofrenia," but I remember it was one of the best, at least among the early works. Of course, it's overshadowed by later albums like "Arise" and "Roots," but that's another story. Surely, they weren't very "refined" (not to mention the lyrics in broken English...), but at the time, "class" didn't count for anything. A production that may seem senseless to those used to "clean" productions: think that I even like the "horrible debut album Morbid Visions"... I have confirmation that many metalheads have put down their studs, beer, and combat boots and have become "refined" esthetes :) ... I give the review a 2 not because I don't share the same opinion, but simply because it's unreadable (in other words, it's written in a "pub talk" style...)

This album (which I stumbled upon by chance) is proof that I don’t like the genre made by Dream Theater (those poor guys don’t sound bad: it’s the genre that is unmanageable): Solid Vision are a good photocopy... but what happened to the dear old quirky and crazy artists of the past, dissonant and disgusting?
