I've always considered them to be highly overrated, and I definitely haven't felt inclined to listen to them more closely... believe me, there are many, many Italian bands that are way better than them that hardly get talked about, at best.

I probably perceive too much the fact that they were the cover band of the DT ... :)

@Feyd: I like the first one, even though it's cheesy as hell (still better than "Burning" or the terrifying "Womaaan beee my slaaaaveeeeee") :)

To me, they really sounded like the DT, and I didn't have the patience to continue listening because they seemed WAY too much like them. I think it's a matter that's very relative at a certain point...

From the description of the rece, it is clear "gothic rock," and, demonstrating how misleading any label can be, I find myself faced with something very different (from my point of view)... an example of current progressive with dark shades, well-produced and well-played... and by coincidence (but perhaps not so coincidentally), the same label that produces the records of Jacula & Anthonius Rex.

I took some time to listen to this album, mainly prompted by this review... and I must say it was worth it, Fidia!! But is it true that their website Christian Death .com 2014 Root of all Evilution. PLEDGE MUSIC CAMPAIGN would be under investigation for (quote) "Subversive Activity, Satanistic worship and ritual, Sexual perversions, aphierotica, Mass orgy ceremonies, Bukakke Ritual, Incitement of Sparation and Church and State Riots" (but....)? It seems to me like quite an outrageous stunt... or am I wrong to be skeptical? The message appears just moments before the main page loads...

Iron Maiden A Matter Of Life And Death

But I wouldn’t make comparisons, because that’s not the point: you can always find something ā€œbetter,ā€ believe me. The point is that their sound has always changed, and not everything was always ā€œassimilableā€: maybe you don’t like their way of making music, I don’t know. With this, Justice, I certainly don’t want to push you to listen to it 10,000 times just to convince you that it’s good, let’s be clear. They’ve released objectively awful albums, but I don’t think this one is...
Iron Maiden A Matter Of Life And Death

I expected something different from this album, but I believe (sorry for butting in) that it’s not so bad after all: I don’t mind this latest twist at all; if it hadn’t happened, we’d be here saying they make the same albums over and over. So it’s better to have something ā€œunusualā€ (hastily deemed ā€œbad by the fansā€) than a copy of a masterpiece. I always find Dickinson's voice great, certainly (I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again) they sound ā€œin slow motionā€ and they have significantly simplified the structure of their songs. But there’s a long way from here to totally ruining themselves. I don’t think it’s bold to say they’ve never been what the fans wanted, and perhaps this review is a ā€œchildā€ of the disappointment stemming from this attitude of theirs. The chart position doesn’t mean much; it’s just a matter of marketing there, Tool could be in first place and nothing would change, since they report the most advertised artists, not the most valid ones. A somewhat simplistic review.

They really surprised me; after the last albums, I had lost all hope... Benton has stayed the same, but the rest of the sound seems to have changed... not a 5, but still nice anyway.
