Good review. I love Jethro, but this CD is terrible, like something from a dive bar.

True. But, for those who maybe didn’t understand, my last message was strongly opposed to Scaruffi's nature, which is primarily focused on criticizing, tearing apart, and dismissing certain genius albums that have made history and entered the hearts of many people. After all, in his defense, everyone has their own opinions and preferences, and so we can forgive him “some mistakes.” And never mind, let’s ignore him when he tries to pass his site off as an objective and impartial archive; let’s overlook his thousand rankings that he has prepared in the most disparate fields that make absolutely no sense (from the most beautiful songs to the best paintings, to movies, novels, and who knows what else). In summary, Scaruffi is a very cultured and very clever man who perhaps writes not even half of what he claims to do: almost certainly he heads a well-paid staff that hides under his shining name. What do you think?

It's true. Perhaps he finds something stimulating and amusing in tearing down groups for which many of us have "wasted" our time listening to, re-listening to, loving, and so on. That is probably his personal and effective strategy; I have thought about it too. Let's ask ourselves this question: Would Scaruffi have had the same fame and success if he hadn't given too many 6s to Genesis, too many 5s to Jethro, too many 4s to Bowie and instead stuck to the predefined standards of appreciation and criticism—which are almost always correct—based on which it is absolutely immoral and unfair to tear down excellent groups that have contributed so much to music? Well, in my opinion, no. In criticism, in controversy, in anti-conformism lies a really big part of the enormous success of his website...

Well done! A funny review that captures the essence of a wonderful album perfectly. I'm looking forward to "A Passion Play", you promise, right? ;D

Purchased today! Great album, but only for enthusiasts or lovers of the genre. Watch out, the edition is limited, or so they say. Instead, I recommend the box set "Lullabies to Violaine," also by the CT, which is likewise distributed in only 15,000 copies, unmissable.

Certainly. Bowie is one of the artists I am most connected to, and I didn't really like it when I read the "respectable" opinions of Scaruffi, who considered him just a mere copier of already existing fashions, lacking any talent, and so on and so forth. I didn't particularly care for his comments on Jethro (obviously), nor those on the Beatles, whom I'm not completely crazy about, although I do recognize their significant innovations in music and the culture of the time, which still leave a deep mark.
It is also true that Scaruffi has introduced us to artists we would have never discovered, whose immense talent we would have never been able to recognize. Think of "monsters" like Lisa Germano, Nico (who years ago was known only for the much-lauded album with the VU and not for solo gems like Desertshore or Camera Obscura), Husker Du, Faust, and so on...
Scaruffi can be criticized because, like everyone, he is human too (although I’m starting to think he’s an immortal god or something like that: where did he find all that time to listen—adequately—comment on and rate all those albums and artists of which he is considered such a profound connoisseur? Who knows...); in short, he makes his little mistakes and silly comments too, but one cannot deny his importance: for over a decade now, generations of listeners have found refuge in his site, musically educated themselves, and received recommendations for essential works to understand contemporary music.

It is certainly remarkable her ability to create always beautiful and innovative songs; the grit is exceptional and she definitely stands out from types like Avril Lavigne and our own Elisa: the talent is evident, the ability too, but this album doesn't seem so beautiful and sensational to me, as the good Scaruffi judged it. He gave it an 8, if I'm not mistaken... an 8!?! But Scaru, how can you give an eight to her and a 7 to gems like Aqualung by Jethro Tull and (even!) a 6 to, for example, 17 Seconds by the Cure!?!
I don't know... the review is a bit thin and too excited, but it holds up.
