Anggun is the Indonesian singer who moved to France to write and sing songs. Anggun is an album that deserves attention from anyone with a wide musical view. I don't think it will appeal to fans of death metal or hard style.
I decided to review this artist because through her songs, her not-so-common voice, and her very pleasant lyrics, she always manages to relax me and bring back some melancholy when I think of Malaysia.
Eighteen songs, some of which are very short lasting about fifteen/thirty seconds, and without lyrics, which I believe were included just to increase the count and nothing more, while the others are very beautiful and meaningful, like "Snow on the Sahara," "Au Nom de la Lune," "Kembali," and many others.
It also contains a cover of "Life on Mars," originally written by David Bowie, sung very well.
Even though this CD is very old, I wanted to review it because in this period where music is no longer looked at but rather the appearance of those who make it (you have probably noticed that if a singer doesn't undress, her video isn't launched) and consequently the market is becoming saturated, I really miss artists who didn't sell their image to sell records, also because she isn't that beautiful.
A complete CD, a selection of songs that ranges from melancholic to cheerful and quite energetic, that along with a very unique voice, has been very successful (at least in Malaysia).
I don't feel like giving it a 4, but a 3.5, well deserved.
