Here’s another example of a great singer who has squandered their talent in lackluster albums in recent years. This is not the case here.

For Ego: It must be understood that the Italian music criticism of those years was mostly made up of people who were quite politicized towards the left, and therefore rather predisposed against Lucio, given the rumors (huge bullshit, in my opinion) suggesting he was a financier of Ordine Nuovo, as well as his reluctance to give interviews and appear on TV. Furthermore, we should add that the critics and, to some extent, the audience of that time were perhaps too used to the Lucio of the "campfire songs" (as someone has already referred to them here), without considering that he was, indeed, much further ahead. Thus, everyone had quite a hard time understanding this masterpiece.

Surely Aeneas doesn’t need my defense, but I believe what he meant to say is that Lucio Battisti’s misfortune is being Italian and not English or American; otherwise, he could have had a fame at least on par with that of David Bowie. And I’m not mentioning David Bowie casually: surely the Thin White Duke knew and appreciated Lucio's work. In 1974, David Bowie translated "Io vorrei... non vorrei... ma se vuoi" into English for a Mick Ronson album and titled it "Music is lethal." It doesn’t seem that David Bowie often translated songs by non-English or non-American artists.

In this album, almost everyone notices the reprise of "I giardini di marzo" at the end of "Anonimo." I point out that in "Macchina del tempo," there are several references to other songs from "Anima latina." Towards the end, you can hear echoes of "La nuova America," "Abbracciala abbracciali abbracciati," and the same "Anima latina."

Another thing that personally pisses me off a bit is that I saw that live performance with Ron, de Gregori, and Mannoia a couple of years ago, and I have to say that the musician is still there in full force and can play great live. But it's probably the inspiration that has faded away.

And to think that most of the critics back then had almost written him off.

I checked on Google, unfortunately it's all true. There will be him, Spagna, Califano, Massimo Di Cataldo, Viola Valentino, and others.

What is about to begin. I hope they made a mistake in writing the name (the source is the Giornale di Brescia).

I've always liked it too. The news that it will participate in the next "Music Farm" brings me down a bit.
