Fresh back from vacation, I'm enjoying this gem that makes me want to listen to them again (the problem is finding them). Back in the day, I think it was the year of Rockerilla. Always at that time, I saw them live at Corallo (the one with Capossela) in a smoky and moody atmosphere. Magnificent. Like "beautiful loser," Dave & Kendra made a beautiful couple.

A review made of nothing. Made in a hurry but with deep words. Simple and beautiful. And sorry if that's not enough.

Amon Tobin (also known for two great albums under the name CUJO) is among the five DJs who have elevated the act of "playing records" to an art form. Like the "composers of the console" who defined the '90s (and beyond) such as SHADOW, KRUSH, VADIM, and SPOOKY. @ Hal: listening to this Brazilian is a must.

Interesting review, but what little I heard left me puzzled. When too many variables are combined, the result tends to take on a life of its own without any surprises. A highly subjective opinion, mind you. It seems to me that good old Tobim, just to name one, is a whole lot better.

Thank you all for the lovely comments @Odra: I saw the pictures after the album had already been spinning in my ears for a while. Actually, it's hard for me to fall in love through images; I tend to fall in love with the stories of people like her have behind them. And I believe that the driving force that pushes me to write about DeB is precisely the opportunity to narrate what revolves around certain sounds. I think it's the same for many who have commented on this page. Lastly, an invitation to listen to the whole album, because it's truly solid and fits well with this season. PS: the best track isn't available on My Space; it's called RAIN and features a sax riff that will keep you company all summer long.

Hi Odra, you might be surprised, but I prefer the second one, PERMUTATION, where "permuta" jazz '60 into dark ultralounge sounds. A masterpiece that allows him to highlight his very personal style (already good but a bit naive in Bricolage). Supermodified is also great, which veers more into the funky-breaks territory.

I saw him in action at the beginning after a Coldcut live show. One of the most impressive DJ sets I've ever attended. A true talent, both in production and behind the console. To hell with those who still think that a DJ isn't a "composer." Stupendous is the right adjective. Great report.

Well, I wouldn't forget about Pinheads on the move either, but if you really have to choose one, I recommend "TEN YEARS IN ONE NIGHT," an amazing live performance that lives up to its title.

Nice to know they're still in the game. And with an album that sounds good. I also agree on the importance of early works. The track "No Tears" is a vintage anthem that encapsulates an era and should not escape the ears of music lovers (not just rock and not just new wave).
