Never listened to them. I have a good memory of Grant Lee Buffalo live.

I confirm the greatness of Headz as a primordial work from which various genres have sprouted (I believe the Beastie Boys are also included). The truly stunning artwork is by the duo Futura 2000 + Del Naja (Massive Attack). P.S.: the good Lavelle knew how to choose his collaborators well.

What a beautiful page. This album needs to be listened to. Thanks for the tip.

Exactly, the book piqued my curiosity. In fact, I was also convinced it was written by Deleuze. Good thing you told me. Too bad, but we're still waiting for the review of Mille Plateaux (has it come back to life?). :)

Well, here we need a big De Gustibus. It's likely that you appreciate more radical productions, like those of Tipper (but here we are on the new school breakbeat and the key record is The Critical Path), but believe me, the best records by Amon Tobin (all released on NT) and Irresistible Force (a.k.a. MixMaster Morris) are destined to endure (and I believe that good old David Toop would agree).

No, I’m not the reviewer. It’s just that I appreciate the carefree style of the review because it fits the subject well. And even the sentence that ā€œstruckā€ you, I read it in the light context of the game. But you can’t dismiss a label like this so easily, one that has produced artists like Dj Food, Irresistible Force, Cinematic Orchestra, Amon Tobin, Flanger, Up bustle & Out... These artists have made records that will be part of music history. They have contributed to hybridizing (and renewing) genres, riding the wave of the provocative agent known as drum'n'bass. There’s a big difference between roots (which are always respected) and innovative impulses.

Well, Leonid, I think we are tuned into two different levels, both valid but not comparable. Back in those days, Ninja, like Pussyfoot, was producing wonderful tracks (like Funki Porcini) that hybridized genres while maintaining a playful and never radical approach. Sure, there were manipulations, but with great respect for traditions. Thus, dub is found to be mixed and smoky yet effective, just like the other genres involved. The salad with porcini remains pleasant and tasty even after all these years. I invite you to give it another taste instead of removing it from your (delicious) menu.

Let's not despair, Zion. Consider that DeB is a database meant to live long. And this is one of the entries that does not live (and die) in the contemporary. But it will be visited whenever a user is curious to learn more about a record and a key figure for understanding the evolution of electronic music.

Well, your Odra was a cult shop. I was reading an interview with Zorn about the deficit management of the label for which he is also a volunteer. I can totally picture him packaging the little boxes for shipping ;) It should be a non-profit organization (which many musicians are also part of) that survives thanks to the concert activities of our "heroes." Anyway, with these filmworks, you can't go wrong.

Inside the package was this and also vol. 14 (WONDERFUL). The other purchases are vol. 12 (with three soundtracks) which is also almost a 5-star, and the last one is vol. 18, a varied suite for a romantic comedy and highly recommended as well. I also want to give a shout-out to the Tzadik volunteers; it's worth buying directly from them. They are extremely correct and ultra-fast. Imagine that the first shipment went awry because of me (I had forgotten some details in the address), and they sent me another one at their own expense.
