It was about time the proletariat had a voice on these pages. Let’s go, bourgeois!!!
Victor Hugo I Miserabili

And yet, in my opinion, the review – as simplistic and superficial as it may be – has a grain of truth: the fact that Hugo often loses the thread of the narrative, tends to reiterate certain concepts to the point of exhaustion, starts digressions from such distant points that they can disorient the reader, and gets lost in the attempt to describe the "sublime" is true. Anyone who denies it is sometimes lying to themselves. Just to give a few examples: the digression on the condition of nuns in monasteries (objectively a couple of tall tales), the long chapter in which he talks about the love between Cosette and Marius (at the very least, inducing diabetes). The same excesses can be found in practically all of his works: I’m reminded of the description of the Court of Miracles in Notre Dame or the libertinism of the Lords in L'Uomo che ride. That it is a masterpiece is beyond debate, but you can certainly find a few flaws.

A sumptuous recovery! Some time ago (a few millennia ago, to be honest...) I started reviewing some great albums of the NWOBHM: these were on the list, but then I never found the inspiration and let it go. Brilliant (and it's not the first time I've told you this. I'm going to deam you!!)

Another stab at the Italian language. May Montessori have mercy on your soul...

I remember this "trend" with the saga (but maybe it's more fitting to say the "saw") of the blind resurrected: 4 films, each worse filmed than the last, with script nonsense and dialogues that, in comparison, Pierino's films seem like Kieslowski. Damn me and my obsession with zombies...
Jamin Winans Ink
Voto:
Seen this week. For charity, very nice, but also pretty predictable in the plot development. The true identity of Ink, in fact, is abundantly hinted at well before the corresponding "twist," and, in general, various narrative solutions are not exactly the height of originality. Moreover, the "Gaiman-esque" cut of the story is evident: at times, the atmospheres and characters seem borrowed from Neverwhere. The beginning, too, reminded me quite a bit of that old Korn video with the children going to sleep… However, I really liked some ideas (e.g., the way nightmares are portrayed): it's clear that the budget wasn’t astronomical, but the result is still pleasant. Maybe a 5, though, is a bit exaggerated.

Oh my... it's been almost 5 years since this review! I didn't even remember writing it. Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by. Bye bye!

The U2 should have made a single album with Acrobat, New Year's Day, and a couple of other songs, and then simply been abducted by a cult of sodomite aliens eager to use their 4 pale Irish sphincters as parking for spaceships. We would have spared ourselves over 20 years of Bono's eco-sustainable nonsense, over 15 years of ridiculous attempts to hide The Edge's baldness, and I don’t even know how many identical reviews.
Hayao Miyazaki Mirai shonen Konan (Conan, il ragazzo del futuro)

Maybe not the absolute pinnacle of the Maestro (age does play a role + the benchmarks are massive), but still a masterpiece. It’s a long-breathed series managed truly skillfully. And then there are practically all the elements of Myazaki's poetics: flying machines, the celebration of childhood in contrast to the stupidity of the adult world, love for nature, the races on perfectly vertical walls...

Strange. I would have expected to stumble upon some drivel from the tufted guy from Cuneo with his Spanish-style eyes. Well, what can I say... Nice page. Well done.
