Purely personal opinion: the reviews of Tool by Alex REALLY PISS ME OFF!!..let's be clear: everyone is free to use the style and linguistic flair that pleases them the most (I remember a review of cazz, I think it was by Fantômas, done with scraps of texts..!!), but this is getting out of hand!!..this is a great album, played well, the band's sound may still seem raw, but it's already packed with ideas, inspirations, and sparks...But now, it's not like reviewing it requires a festival of rhetorical figures and fancy words!!..the review of Undertow already seemed far-fetched and tiresome to me, but having read this, my first thought was: "...and who gives a fuck?!?"..fluid and visionary writing..very good..but it's not a review!cia

I was browsing through Debaser and ended up here... it's been quite a while since you posted the review, but I don't think my comment will harm you in any way! This album is a masterpiece! Definitely in my top ten metal albums of all time... I was a kid when I bought the vinyl pretty much "sight unseen," knowing little or nothing about this band... then for years I systematically forced it down my stereo's throat... it might sound silly to say for a Pestilence album, but I have a ton of memories tied to this record: Echoes of Death was the soundtrack to my anger on countless occasions! May Torquemada bless them... ah!.. great review!

You’re right: it’s a nice, harmless record, without too many pretensions, and by the second listen, you’ve got a few melodies stuck in your head!.. however, I don’t think that can be considered a virtue: the beauty of an album also lies in its longevity! And finally, a band that truly has something Tool-like!!! By now, I expect to find “typically Tool-like sounds” or “Tool-like images” even in the review of Massimo di Cataldo’s next album! Bye!

I must say that, in my opinion, this is the best (pseudo)review of the three: it is well-written and informed; a few words less about the past (there are already ten reviews on Tool.. if someone wants to know something about the previous albums, I’d say they have plenty to indulge in..) and a few more about the album in question wouldn’t have hurt. I just don't start to understand one thing: so, Opiate and Undertow are the albums from "when Tool weren't Tool yet" (see Undertow review-Skillfactory), then there’s Aenima and nobody (may Odin save us!) dares to say anything bad about it, now I discover that Lateralus is already a decline, while the new one is a "pure exercise in style"... are you sure you really like them?!?! I don’t know.. in my opinion, this album isn’t bad. As … says, what was expected (and what I expected) was something different, something additional compared to what has already been heard, which, if possible, would have pushed the human cerebral-musical limit a bit further. This hasn’t happened, and I believe it’s evident to everyone: some riffs, let’s not hide it, sound familiar and some solutions appear predictable. Yet, you can find some great tracks (The Pot and Rosetta Stoned) and others that could have been great but just miss the mark (Vicarious and the Title track). It's definitely more "guitar-heavy" compared to the preceding albums, and there are no dips in either the sound or the band’s attitude. In short, it's not the funeral elegy of a great band! It’s just a more "extroverted" album than what was expected! ..."All you read and wear or see and hear on TV Is a product begging for your fatass dirty Dollar so ... Shut up and Buy my new record" :)!... Hi everyone!

Simply exceptional disc... any further adjective would be superfluous. The review is great too!

Evidently, I’m the only one who really doesn't like this album! What R.I.D. calls more complex arrangements, in my opinion, are little more than a copy-paste of riffs (see, for example, "The Itch," but also "Rusted") that make the piece fragmented and lacking impact. The guitars, to be honest, don’t seem that aggressive to me, at least compared to what our heroes had shown us in previous albums (the opening of "Will I Arrive" still delights me even after the three hundredth listen..). And I still can't find all these Tool influences... unless one wants to consider the central breaks of Consternation or July as such!! Best regards to all! Bye!

I'm glad you didn't take my judgment on the album as a criticism of your review (which, I reiterate, I think is well done)...Hi!
