"However, this doesn't mean we should become passive in the face of these provocations" ... mmm ... I fear I will end up appearing to you, and to many other readers, as insensitive and superficial. I hope to make myself understood and to convince you of the contrary. In the early '80s, Rozz Williams would enact the ritual of crucifixion during concerts. Even earlier, Ozzy would often misdirect songs towards the crosses he brought on stage or wore around his neck. The Coven in '69 (!!!) posed dressed as priests inside a church, around an altar with a naked woman like a sacrificial victim. Let’s remember the cover of the first (as I recall) Samael with Christ and nails driven into his skull, etc., etc., etc. What I want to say is that the provocative gesture with a religious background, which might be considered very "heavy" in tone, is a practice that has accompanied rock and its derivatives practically since the dawn of time. Like all “cultural phenomena,” it is subject to ongoing evolution which, in many cases, manifests as an exaggeration (example - awful comparison: think of the miniskirt. At the moment of its birth, about 50 years ago, it was practically just above the knee.. today a miniskirt refers to something very much akin to a belt..).

..my fear is that Slayer will, in terms of reputation, in some ways meet the same fate as Metallica, where bashing their latest albums becomes the cool thing to do, and it's a duty for every true metalhead. This complaining about the artwork or the lyrics - and I'm not referring to you, but it's a general discussion - leaves me a bit perplexed.. Slayer's covers have never been signed by Walt Disney, nor have their lyrics ever celebrated values of charity and tolerance.. Of course, twenty years ago being extreme meant having an inverted cross on the cover, but today if there's not at least a nun getting defiled (think of Cradle Of Filth..) you're nobody anymore!.. the same goes for the lyrics!

ALT!!!.. you should have read my comments and ratings on this album (as well as on the single) before saying that "I stubbornly defend Slayer." I've never said this is a great album, on the contrary. Simply - and you are the most suitable person for this reasoning - I intended to reflect on one thing: "Christ Illusion" is not a bad album "per se," but only because it’s yet another rehash of the "Slayer canon," which, after nearly 25 years of honorable career without any real evolution, shows all its limits. I've been listening to Slayer for about 16-17 years, I've seen them live countless times, I've played their songs for years.. Of course, if they keep throwing the same riff at two hundred beats per minute, the same double bass, the same chaotic solo, I find myself no longer as thrilled as I used to be!! But I wonder: the aspiring metalheads, those who (like you) know only a couple of the band’s albums, for whom Slayer still represents a "novelty".. why do they have to rage against an album that is nothing more than what has been done in more prestigious albums with a more modern production and a louder vocal performance?!? Okay, it’s not the new South Of Heaven.. but damn, I give "1" to something utterly ridiculous!!.. tell me, tell me, I'm curious.

@Fidia: ..there was a mess with notifications of rulings and I found myself having to make two incidental appeals overnight. Then I discovered a procedural tool of which I practically ignored the existence: "Optional reservation of appeal against non-definitive rulings" pursuant to Article 361 of the Italian Civil Procedural Code, but done in appeal!!... who the hell has ever heard of this stuff?!?!.. oh well! Bye!
