I start by apologizing to everyone for the excessive length of this review: there were so many things I wanted to say to express how much I love this film that in the end it turned into a lengthy piece. The first and most necessary thanks go to the editor who had to put up with this review: thank you for highlighting the "title" and sorry for keeping you glued to the computer for what felt like an eternity. The remaining thanks go to all those who visited, voted, and commented: the beauty of this film ended up overshadowed by the many other masterpieces Coppola produced during that period. It’s almost as if a bit of Harry’s unhappiness ended up impacting the film as well... it’s nice to discover that so many of us love it. Thank you all! Bye!

The problem is that to mock/criticize the American mentality, he used actors that can barely be called competent, and an absurd budget spent on special effects. I agree with your opinion on what the message might be, but it's the "packaging" that doesn't convince me! Bye!

@Hetzer: to be honest, I also thought "The Invisible Man" and "Starship Troopers" were crap!!!:DDD!! On the other hand, it was noble of him to showcase the assets of the girl from Bay Side School in Showgirls.. even though, out of that cast, I would have preferred Tiffany Amber Thiessen! a crappy movie like few others, a kind of Chorus Line for voyeurs, but at least there were tits and ass galore!:DD! Bye!

The first time I saw it I was about 7-8 years old.. the scene where they smash his hand with the shotgun or the one with the guy ending up in the acid bath scared me so much.. brrr.. Verhoeven did some messed-up stuff.. but this was part of my childhood!!

@Poletti: I believe your observations are all correct. It was not my intention to blindly praise a city that has serious problems. I just wanted to highlight some positive aspects as well, after all the negative ones you've mentioned. That's all. Ah!.."unfortunately" I won't be at the event on the 26th: the day after there's the only Italian date of Celtic Frost + Kreator in viale Forlanini! I think if I have some free time I'll just stay with my headphones "reviewing"! :DD! Bye!
