LA RECENSIONE

The year is 2004: in the small French town of Bagnols sur Cèze, Neige (vocalist, bassist, and guitarist) already known artistically under the name Alcest, meets the splendid vocalist Audrey and drummer Fursy Teissier, and together they conceive the idea to create a musical style that reflects the dark side of the industrial era and modern civilization; after writing a few songs together, the project Amesoeurs comes to life.

Unfortunately, soon after, Teissier leaves the band to continue his studies but will remain among the band's works as the designer of the brand-new website. The choice for the new drummer falls on Winterhalter (ex-Peste Noir) and, in April 2005, a first MCD is recorded under the title "Ruines Humaines". The band sends the work to a few labels, but we have to wait until 2006 for the official release entrusted to the German Northern Silence Productions.

No doubt about it, an authentic French gem of the most romanticist black metal: 3 tracks that hit your heart and emotions like arrows. "Bonheur Amputé" is the piece that introduces us to the world of Amesoeurs: the piercing screams of Neige spread like cries for help in the blackness of an increasingly negative world, and the original, engaging, and never predictable rhythm draws the listener into a state of involvement in the thoughts of these three young people who lament the rise of this dramatic era saturated with human ruins.
Indeed, human ruins are the topic of the next track "Ruines Humaines", which opens with delicate acoustic chords before unleashing all the cold and desperate black-doom tired of the monotony of life, the dispersal of human emotions into a continuous nothingness under the shadows of iron giants of the new millennium. The disc closes with "Faiblesse des sens", characterized by an opening arpeggio that does not betray the melancholic and soft-spoken side of this band and the splendid voice of Audrey who, even while working on a melodic piece, does not falter and once again conveys the gloomy and depressive soul of the trio.

Excellent also is the cover and artwork of the EP which further exalt the group's ideology; "We, Amesoeurs, are the children of this sad and metallic century" reads one of the lines; lines steeped in emotion and romanticism.

One of the best works of 2006: listen to it calmly, and you will be on my side.
