..okay, I wrote the other review for this album so I'm biased, but Jesus Christ: with all the Metal Church albums that are missing, you really had to make a duplicate?!?!?! I pray for those who spent money on your education that it took you less than three minutes to write this crap. Bye.

I watched this movie one night on Italia 1!!.. basically, with all the cuts, censorships, and edits, it ended up being little more than a short film! And it seemed like a complete load of crap to me (also because the ending made no sense..). Then I went to read a couple of reviews and discovered that I don’t understand a damn thing and that Araki is a genius. I don’t know.. I’m waiting to get my hands on the uncut version! Bye!

@Don: well, first of all, your “what if” regarding Suvari’s promiscuous nature. At the time, I asked myself the same question: what if she had been there?!.. well.. I remember telling myself that probably, even in that case, Lester would have held back.. I want to rethink it and understand if the film’s solution is really just the most cleverly cunning one in a muccinian way. Another thing, I was struck by your closing, "Do we want to make socially and culturally motivated cinema? Perfect. But the problems are quite different, and the answers must be quite different." I believe I disagree. First, because I don’t think this film aimed to have any “social significance,” to be a film of “denunciation” in the harshest and most aggressive sense of the term. I’ve always thought of it more as a (good) “representation,” with a staging that on several occasions seems to verge into sitcom territory, based on a symmetry-opposition between the two families that may be a bit banal in some aspects, but is characterized by formal rigor and excellent actors. As you’ve well pointed out, it even manages to engage in successful caricaturistic satire, in my opinion (the Bening-Clinton). In short, if it doesn’t provide answers, it’s mainly because it doesn’t pose questions. If it’s not “bad,” it’s mostly because (in my opinion) “it doesn’t want to be bad.” I believe that, if placed in the right context, it’s not a bad film at all. I wrote this in a hurry.. I hope I’ve been as clear as possible! Bye!

WOW!!..I would have never imagined you so fierce in the film review! We don't see eye to eye on the film, but there are at least a couple of your observations that made me think! Great job!

@psycho: I didn't know about that thing with the final scene. Rather, I've been told that the scene with the ear cutting and others (even the idea of setting most of the story in a warehouse) should be taken from a Fukasaku film (I don't know the title.. definitely not Battle Royal). Do you know anything about it?

You've hit the nail on the head!! The skill also lies in the ability to be concise.. if I had written this review, you’d probably still be trying to get through it! I think I’m suffering from review dysentery! :DDD! Hi!!

@Bubi: I'm glad you took my comment in the best possible way.. What I wanted to say, you've demonstrated yourself: you write well, you love cinema, and the review is full of interesting insights, but if we take away all the plot references, the spoilers, and the quotes, it can be reduced to just a comment! Really, Bubi, I don’t want to argue.. let’s just say we have two different ways of understanding film reviews and that's that!:DDD! Bye!

Bubi, I'm really sorry, but I keep thinking that you spend too much time discussing the plot of movies that everyone (or almost everyone) knows. And then it ends up that you say little or nothing about all those aspects that might deserve more attention: like, in this case, the soundtrack, the decision to use the warehouse space as a "theater," the final duel with three... etc etc. I'm sorry again, but I noticed you've reviewed other masterpieces always with this tendency... I just wanted to let you know my opinion! Bye!
