Death SS ...in Death of Steve Sylvester
Voto:
The review is long, but excellent (as always, after all). My favorites remain Heavy Demons and Black Mass (original, huh???:DDDDD!!!). I’ve never found this one particularly interesting and haven’t delved into it much... in any case, I feel aligned with your analysis. I just fear I haven’t entirely grasped the parallel you proposed: Death SS-Bava / Mercyful Fate-Corman. Corman (my personal idol) is mainly known for being the king of sleazy directors, of scripts written in an afternoon, of ultra low budget, of recycled sets (and actors)... and in this, he was an innovator at least as much as Bava. Even his cycle on Poe (and especially his Pit & Pendulum) seems to me the least faithful to the original texts that could possibly exist... By the way, you juxtaposed it with the most gothic of Bava's films... In short, I didn’t understand a damn thing!!:DDDDD!! Congratulations again! Bye!

Hi!.. it's a passage from Angels In America, a miniseries directed by Mike Nichols a few years ago based on a play by Kushner (or something like that.. I don't remember!:DD!). If you haven't seen it, I really recommend it: the story is a bit complicated, and telling it loses a lot of its charm. I'd say the best incentive is the cast: Al Pacino (who plays Roy, the bad guy to whom that dialogue is directed), Emma Thompson, and Meryl Streep.. Bye!

Good job! Nice review. I've been thinking about a review for Better Off Dead for a while now, but I haven't really put my mind to it yet. This album is too recent for me: by the time it came out, my thrash phase had already passed, and I didn't get it. Great review anyway, especially since Sodom aren't exactly well represented on this site! Bye!
Deathrow Deception Ignored

I'm back after months to this review to thank everyone who has read and commented on it in the meantime: thank you so much!! I've never understood why Deathrow didn't gain great popularity even among aficionados of the genre. To this day, I am convinced that Raging Steel is their most beautiful album, perhaps less "spectacular" and innovative compared to Deception, but still a masterpiece of the genre (even superior to some "classics" of the Teutonic scene...). I really hope that someone reading this page has discovered and appreciated them as (I think) they deserve. Bye and thanks again!!

But above all, in the original there’s the whole issue of the opposition between Catholicism (the protagonist is a fervent believer) and pagan rituals, which is completely missing here. THIS MOVIE IS A JOKE. Just the presence of Cage should put any lover of good cinema and good acting on the defensive. As for the rest, everything is awful. The previously mentioned scene of him dressed as a bear, the plot holes, the idiotic dialogues, the ending… My God… the ending… A joke. Period.

@lux: sorry, but seeing the comments posted just a few hours after publication, I can't help but ask you: what made you decide to review this album?!? :DDDDD! Hi!
