One of the biggest inconsistencies in the movie, however, remains SPOILER = but if the kaiju are clones (as the tattooed scientist says at the beginning of the film), why is a female sent over the breach at one point, moreover pregnant?!?=END SPOILER.

+ a management of some characters that, personally, has even made me annoyed (of course, I'm referring to the Chinese trio and the Russian couple). The result is simple: you watch it and, all in all, you don't really care if humanity will be saved. The thought immediately goes to Armageddon, by that jerk Bay: stuff for weaklings, of course, but when dad Bruce Willis sacrifices himself to save that bastard who's sleeping with his daughter, you get a strong urge for cuddles, and you don't even feel a bit ashamed. Here, none of that. Not even close. That said, I believe PR still deserves respect, if only because it has somehow drawn a line on what can be done on the subject today. In my opinion, it will be the beginning of a bidding war on the theme of "giant robots beating each other up." And – at least as far as I'm concerned – that's enough.

Burp... I was saying: there’s a lack of substance. Where "substance" shouldn't mean some deep thematic complexity or intricate screenplay, but just - much more plainly - a real "emotional engagement" of the audience. The causes of this lack of engagement are multiple, although none truly decisive when considered individually: terrible and/or personality-less actors (for example, just look at Mako's sad puppy dog face that really seems the result of hours and hours of practice in front of the mirror to appear as unnatural as possible + Raleigh and the other chick who are really too similar physically - come on, you only need to have seen 10 minutes of Top Gun to understand that the two co-protagonist enemy-friends must be physical opposites!!), zero psychological introspection, a narrative tension that at one point goes to take a piss and gets stuck in the bathroom for a good half hour before returning out of breath just in time for the last twenty minutes of the film. It continues...

The review is perfect, no matter what some crap might say. 2/3 of the reviewers you find online are just nerds who care too much about letting us know how much they know about Harryhausen and Honda and playing "Guess Who?" with all the inspirations Del Toro drew from. The other 1/3 is made up of people complaining because they expected to see the new Eisenstein and instead, guess what, there are just huge robots beating up kaiju eiga. But, above all, the review is perfect because it says things as they are: the trailers for PR have simply rewritten the concept of "fotta" in practically every 30-something who didn't love dressing up as a woman when they were a kid, putting on their mom's lipstick and high heels. Then the big day comes, you book at the coolest cinema in your city, you buy a mountain of popcorn that could feed a small state, and there you are, waiting for Del Toro to honor his surname and fiercely possess you for an hour and a half, leaving you exhausted with your butt parked like a bicycle... and instead, nothing. Or almost. Eye candy. Immense eye candy (the battle in the bay is objectively awesome). But it lacks substance. I’ll continue after the pizza is ready...

I gave it a half-listen and I think I'm going to end up liking it quite a bit. For the Italic Album of the Year, I’m waiting for October with the new one from Ruggine. Great recommendation, by the way!

The entire first paragraph can basically be summed up as: "Yes, I know I have terrible tastes. But I don't do it on purpose. That's just who I am."

Nes raises a rather serious question, namely how much of a bunch of jerks we are for laughing at the misadventures of a poor guy who really does have some psychological issues. I confess that I too have pondered this problem on several occasions. However, then Giuseppe Simone came out with the video of him taking a shower, and I must confess that all my decency began to obsessively repeat: "I'll give you the unidentified bird..."

After a late adolescence as a comic book nerd, I've come to the conclusion that American serialization isn't for me. The idea that a series could last 50 years makes me feel worse than a Sanremo presented by Rita Dalla Chiesa. That's why nowadays I only buy big volumes that collect an entire series (for example, a few months ago I bought the hefty book that gathers all of Bone, and it was a great purchase). I've had my eye on this one for a while and - especially due to the themes it tackles - I'm really tempted to start buying it. But the thought of keeping up with the monthly releases is just not happening. I'd rather wait until 2050 and get it all in a convenient holographic suppository edition. In the meantime, I've watched a couple of episodes of the series and fallen asleep an indecent number of times...

My favorite of Giuseppe Simone is the one where he takes a shower or any of the early videos where his mother calls him on his cell phone and he gets angry like Hitler. Diprè, on the other hand, I've been following since the beginning, but also a little bit since the egg whites: essentially because I was curious to see how long it would take for him to get struck off the register. In my opinion, one of the highlights is when he goes to see Giacomo De Michelis, an erotic painter who dedicated a monograph to Marini's ass. Personally, I'm very happy about this collaboration with Giuseppe Simone, because the bamba and the trans were making him go too far off the rails. Instead, thanks to good Giuseppe and his genuine desire for sex, I see a refreshed Diprè...
