Excellent review. Very long, but, as I have already had the chance to say, it is definitely important to give space to the "plot" as well. I agree with the final judgment on the album: in my opinion, it is slightly inferior to its predecessors. I think the main problem is some compositional strains that diminish the impact of the tracks. Congratulations!

But I'm really amazed to read "cuverta" instead of "cover"! You're a genius!! I'm from Varese, but I know these guys well! They're really good!! And the Ace of Spades is really beautiful! Cheers!

Ahhh!! I've fallen victim to a plot!.. which, by the way, hit the mark perfectly! I didn't think you could be so Machiavellian! :DDD! I hope the other visitors will forgive us if we use this page to mind our own business a bit.. So, let's start from the end: maybe you're right in saying that I've let my guard down too much.. the fact is that those very criticisms I've received represent my main fear when I send out an "unusual" review. A fear I've had with Hana Bi, Nick Cave, with Sebadoh.. the fear of having what might be my feelings about a film or an album mistaken for flamboyance or, worse still, a mere attempt to impress. And, above all, the fear of getting too lost in my flights of fancy and losing clarity. This is to say that if a user comes and tells me "I didn't understand anything" or "you overdid it", well.. it strikes a raw nerve! The review on Spirit Caravan, I admit reluctantly, was a rather painful process: I wanted it to come out instinctively, "from the gut".. and instead I found myself correcting it, modifying it, and rewriting it who knows how many times. This is to say that perhaps it really lacked a bit of "artifice".. My God, it's also worth noting that many didn't catch some references that I thought were more accessible (..if I speak of "electric funeral" is it possible that Black Sabbath doesn't come to mind?!?:DD). In short, I may have been excessively rich in rhetorical figures, but it didn't seem that incomprehensible to me!! DDD! The gist of the matter is: Debaser is not a site for journalists. For that, there are Scaruffi, Ondarock and a bunch of very capable people. This is a bar where we talk about music, not a school!.. I believe that if a review fails to convey the sensations that an album has generated in the reviewer, then it is not a good review. And if someone comes and tells me that my review seemed just a hodgepodge of metaphors to them.. well.. there's nothing I can do: it means I haven't written a good review!.. I care a lot about your opinion and I'm curious to know what you think.. PS: as for the rest of your post, I'll get back to that later.. :DD!
Kevin Reynolds Waterworld

I just thought of something: everyone says that Waterworld was an epic flop and that good old Koster lost a ton of money and hair over it, that he used to be cool for dances with wolves and field of dreams, etc., and then nobody cared about him anymore. Well... I read that it's not really true: thanks to a somewhat effective promotional campaign, this film actually turned a profit. It may not have been the new Titanic, but it wasn't Heaven's Gate either. Amen..

@Francescobus: I'm taking advantage of this shamefully quiet page to bring up a couple of issues: 1) I'm still having problems with sending emails… if the issue persists, tomorrow I'll copy everything into a private message and we'll cut the bull with the bull! 2) But just in case you had in mind to review Possessed By Fire?!? I was thinking of returning a bit to the thrash fold (I guess I'm not really cut out for other genres!!:DDDD!!) and that album would be just right for me... but it would annoy me to "steal" it from you. Not to mention that I already have a couple started that I need to finish sooner or later (Better Off Dead and Neurodeliri)! In short: in any case, I would take (as usual..) a lot of time. So, if you feel like reviewing it, go for it!!! Bye!

..mmm..to tell the truth, stuff that's too nasty gets boring after a while.. you know, it's a bit like those modern horror films like Saw: by the 25th amputation, "I get used to it" and boredom sets in. Better to have bad stuff, but with contrasts or twisted-suggestive atmospheres (to stick with the cinematic comparison, let’s say: better the first Texas Chainsaw.. :DDD!!). @death: as soon as I have some time, I’ll send you a private message about the "age-old issue" from last time.. there should be further developments. See you!
