THE REVIEW

Polenta e vin ross a fan ben ai oss !!!!! - Review written in Lombard dialect, as a tribute to this band.

I was chatting with my friends when one day they told me about a band that came from Milan. They call themselves Longobardeath, like the Lombards, but dead. And basically, they make some really heavy metal, sung in dialect. I can't deny that at first, it seemed like total nonsense to me, but then my opinion changed: the fact is, I started listening a bit more seriously, at first with a smile, and then I found myself laughing like an idiot. The band is led by the legendary Ul Mik, on vocals, who's kind of the leader of the band, and he sings with the rage of someone who just caught his wife in bed with another man. Pediluvi is the introduction, then there's Lader which talks about the donkeys who have always governed this Country of fools, and Fossa which is the hardest track on the album. They've also covered "The Ace of Spades", a song by the Motorhead: it's called L'Ass de Picch and it's done really well, it makes you laugh hard. Necrorapina, on the other hand, is the one that makes you laugh more than any other. Piase' de Mazà is a tribute to Kreator, in fact, it's the translation of "Pleasure to Kill", just like A Voeri Ves Un Quai Vun is a cover by W.A.S.P., Wanna Be Somebody. Then there are three live tracks on the album.

If you also consider that the album title echoes Metallica's "Kill 'em All", you'll realize how clever it is: Kill 'em All = Ki l'è Moll, Ki l'è Dür! And indeed, it's quite appropriate... They recorded this album in 2005. And this year they also released an album called "Polenta Violenta" which is already quite a statement. Anyway, it's not an album that's easy to listen to, especially if you're not Milanese or at least Lombard.

In essence, this album is definitely worth buying, to see how Italians can be both charming and amusing at the same time.

Summary by Bot

Longobardeath’s album 'Ki L'è Dür' offers a unique heavy metal experience sung entirely in Milanese dialect. Led by the charismatic Ul Mik, the band blends rage and humor, covering classic metal songs with a regional twist. The album merges clever cultural references with raw energy, making it an intriguing listen especially for those familiar with Lombardy. It’s not the easiest album for outsiders but definitely worth exploring for its charm and originality.
