Alfonso Cuaròn I Figli Degli Uomini

Nice film, not a masterpiece, but with at least a couple of strokes of genius that make it a really good product. I noticed that when the protagonists arrive at the concentration camp, in one of the cages you can glimpse a hooded man "crucified" just like in one of the most famous photographs of the torture at Guantanamo. Some things feel a bit "thrown in" (the real intentions of the Fishes, the Muslim funeral in the midst of the guerrilla, the character of Caine's wife...), but overall I find it more than respectable. Good review.

@Mariaelena: forgive me for taking advantage of this space to ask you a question that doesn’t have anything to do with the review and the movie you’re presenting, but lately you’ve been quite absent!:DD! Have you seen The Fountain - L'Albero della vita by Aronofsky?! I remember your review on the soundtrack (which I think is very beautiful..), but I’m curious to know what you think of the film. Thank you very much, bye.

Of the three(hundred?) reviews for this movie, the one I agree with the most is definitely this one!:DD!

P.S.: a comment on the review is pretty much unnecessary: always great nightdriver. It’s just a shame you don’t post more often!!:D! Bye!

Charles Laughton La Morte Corre Sul Fiume

Thank you very much to MuffinMan and MisterGigi: for the vote, but also and above all for the visit. @MisterGigi: indeed, the review is long, and very much so, but tell me honestly: how many other things were there to say?!?..La morte corre sul fiume is a beautiful film also for its complexity, for the multiple levels of interpretation, insights, and genres that can be found within it. I had the same problem, for example, with La Conversazione and with La parola ai giurati! This is not meant to be a real "justification," let's be clear (yours is a truly flattering comment and, as I said, I realize that I may have sinned a bit in verbosity). Let’s say rather an "extenuating circumstance"!:DDD! Thank you so much again! Bye!

Great job Danilo!!..we really needed a review on Iron: if I'm not mistaken, just this week the Pink Floyd made their comeback, but thanks to your review, balance has been restored!!..can you believe it, I had written one too and my PC crashed!!!
John Carpenter 1997: Fuga Da New York
Voto:
@Poletti: ..well.. both The Night and District are reinterpretations of the prototype of the attack on the fortress and therefore of A Dollar of Honor.. but in my opinion, Carpenter drew inspiration from Romero for some horrific aspects of his film: if I remember correctly, the bad guys hanging outside the district show an "abnormal" resistance to bullets (just like the zombies..), which Carpenter traces back (by the way, only hinting at it..) to voodoo rituals.. Also, the fact that there is a black protagonist seems to me a veiled reference to The Night, but maybe it's just my paranoia..:DDD!! Undoubtedly A Dollar is the progenitor, but I believe that The Night also played a certain role in inspiring the screenplay for District.. that's all.. Bye!
