THE REVIEW

Who would have ever expected that!!!

Surprise, satisfaction, energy, and drive are the feelings and the right, yet simple words to define the latest work of the most famous and appreciated Heavy Metal band by HeadBangers all over the world.

"A Matter Of Life And Death" is the confirmation that Iron Maiden is like wine, the more the years pass, the more we find a stunning and wonderful product. An extraordinary album considering the age of the band members who, continuing to follow in the footsteps of previous albums like "Powerslave" from way back in 1984, never cease to combine strong themes with truly beautiful and detailed Artwork, even though we all feel a bit of the absence of that Derek Riggs who made us love and know Eddie in his early years!!

If we move on to the listening of this album, we are immediately catapulted into a whirlwind of energy and hope with "Different World", a powerful song especially if we highlight the masterful solo by Adrian Smith, who for over 10 years has sparked his artistic vein through truly excellent solos and lyrics. And who better could describe the feelings and thoughts of a soldier and encapsulate them in a song. "These Colours Don't Run" is proof that the Maiden can do this well too. Scrolling through the tracks, we find "The Pilgrim", with a really pleasant and "cheerful" attack until reaching the track which, in my opinion, is the most beautiful in this album, "The Longest Day". An awe-inspiring song, with a truly monstrous Bruce Dickinson, youthful vocal tone, and power reminiscent of the times of the "Air Raid Siren" as he was once called. Track 7, which is the first single released to the public before the album's launch, "The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg", presents excellently to a true HeadBanger's ear. The story, prayers, and hopes of a Romanian soldier disappeared during World War II. Just at the point of death, this guy reveals to a spirit his fears and, as previously mentioned, the hopes in the life he lived and is now losing. Moving on, the album concludes with "The Legacy", an initially acoustic song that reveals the skill, mastery, and often-hidden seriousness of Janick Gers. The jovial guitarist, often involved in funny skits with drummer Nicko MC Brain, delivers an excellent song, laid on slow but decisive rhythms.

I highly recommend purchasing this album for its true and pure beauty and naturally, referring to Maiden enthusiasts like myself, I recommend focused listening to refute the famous words that the Maiden are no longer up to par.

It’s a flawless album in terms of production, technique, and Bruce’s vocal performance.

The tracks are very long and not very immediate, but it’s certainly not a hard metal album, which suits the band’s age.

‘A Matter of Life and Death’ is an album that has many things to say and requires an audience willing to sit down and listen to it calmly and coherently.

The album itself is excellent, full of well-conceived and executed ideas, a masterpiece? I certainly won’t be the one to decide it; the arduous sentence is left to posterity.

Each song has its own particular light, and there isn’t a single track placed just to extend the album’s duration.

Ladies and gentlemen, the beast is back, and despite the age, it is also quite angry and in shape!!

"The choruses in 'These Colours Don't Run' are embarrassing, the song rhythms are incredibly predictable."

"If you can't produce an average-level album, why do you struggle to carry on?"

"An album to buy and listen to calmly to appreciate it... it sounds terribly good."

"Listen, listen, listen and open your mind. Up the irons."
