A film I saw when it came out, but I don’t remember it being the masterpiece that all of you say. The long takes in the first part can be an interesting directorial choice, but they can also turn out to be "exhausting" for the viewer. I also see some rhetoric here: the scene with the beautiful girls vomiting, the unattractive one, the blonde guy with the alcoholic father.. (even, but I must be mistaken, are the two killers gay?!.. I don’t remember..) who knows.. it all feels a bit like caricatures from Lucignolo. Maybe it’s just that the elephant is too big for a single film. @Adriano: you mentioned you were preparing a documented response to the discussion on the review of Saw.. any news?!

I’ve been quietly reading the comments on this page, fearing I wasn’t “constructive” enough in my first post, only to read what?!?.. that you already have another duplicate ready in the drawer!! Exactly which part of the following sentence didn’t you understand (evidently due to your -as you say- young age..): "1. Maybe someone has already written it. Check with the DeMotore di ricerca that the record you want to review isn’t already in the magical DeDatabase. If it is, it’s up to you to decide if it’s still worth writing a review: maybe yes (you have something else to say), but maybe not."?!

..oops.. I've been a bit busy these days and couldn't respond or engage as much as I would have liked.. Well, I want to reiterate/extend my thanks to everyone who commented on this slightly silly review written on a somewhat silly Sunday afternoon for a definitely silly film. One P.S.@blackdog: so what about that classic you’re about to review?!?.. if it's one of those I have in the pipeline, I'll skip it!:D! Hi everyone!

I give you one for many reasons: A- Slayer and Pestilence have always been my favorite bands: with every review of theirs, I tremble at the thought of how much bullshit I’ll find; B- the intro: I don’t give a damn how you reviewed it: do your damn job the best way possible and you won’t need to apologize to anyone C- the outro: you’re too scared of what others think of you… talk about the album instead of covering your ass D- the adjective BEAUTIFUL: Christ Almighty… but you young people (I’m thinking of another reviewer who has the same flaw) can’t give substance to the adjective “beautiful”?!?!.. “beautiful” means jack shit, for Odin! E- the adjective “GREAT”… see the previous point: “a great solo”… what is it?! do they play it on an ESP balalaika?! F- the review: next time just put the tracklist directly and, next to each song, two adjectives and some bullshit picked up from Wikipedia: you’ll take up less space and I’ll take less time reading you. G- you’re just sending duplicates. For the others, see you at lunch break.

I haven't heard this, but I know them well enough. Some nice albums (Vision Fugitives is really good, The Music Of... not bad at all), the "covers" of Modesto Mussorgsky are quite interesting (Night on Bald Mountain in particular...). And yet... yet they’ve never completely convinced me. They aren't technical to the point of making you shout "miracle." They aren’t prog. They aren’t thrash. The voice (allowing for lineup changes...) is rather anonymous. They lack that flair, that genius that a musical proposal of this genre would require. In short, they are a halfway point of everything that doesn't really excite me.

On "Tommy the true mastermind of the band" there would be quite a bit to say.. and the recent releases, from what I've read and from the little I've listened to, seem to confirm this. There are some interviews circulating online that cast anything but a positive light on Tommy: mastermind, sure, but in the sense of a cold calculator. The real leader (and history has proven this) was Peso, the true soul of the group. In one of those interviews, Chicco describes him as "the glue that kept us together." Another thing: the reference to Pestilence isn’t very well-founded. If I find the aforementioned interviews, I'll post the link..

Here I am!.. I'm finishing up some work and I'll be online a little longer! America is amazing today! I really love some of Carver's stories! Of course.. at 11:30 PM?!?!.. well done!.. and maybe they'll even squeeze in an essential evening edition of TG4 news so it ends at 5!.. but then in "prime" time (which by now starts at half past nine..) let's add in Mister Bean! Last week they aired All Dead Except the Dead at 2:30...

..that race is totally rigged: you can immediately tell that the best one is the kid who's a meter tall and a marlboro with a Nazi face.

Well… even with paper and pen, from what I've heard, it's lost some of its shine. I stopped a few books ago: I'm definitely up to The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon (which didn’t really blow me away), and then I don't know… but I don't really count: I think I'm the only person on the face of the Earth who found The Stand a bit boring! :DDD!
