Manilla Road Crystal Logic
Voto:
Good review and good album. Fisher is a more than decent drummer, but the band will really shine with Foxe behind the kit. Personally, in Crystal Logic, I prefer not only the two masterpieces "Open The Gates" (reviewed by me here!:DDD!) and "The Deluge," but also the subsequent and slightly thrashy "Mystification." The fact is that alongside masterpiece tracks, there are a few weaker ones, and the final judgment suffers from it. However, I repeat, a good album: "Dreams Of Escathon" always makes me cry like a calf.

Well done! It feels very "measured": personally, I prefer when the various pretentiousness of true metal heads are avoided! 5 for the effort!

Seen a long time ago, I promised myself to take another look at it before going to see the one with Will Smith (which smells of rotten meat from a mile away, but I'm too curious!:DD!). I've read a bit of Matheson: besides I am legend, I also fondly remember his "3 millimetri al giorno."

..mmm.. I'm sorry to come off as a nuisance, but I think your review style is a bit stretched with films like this, so "rich." Moreover, in my opinion, a "Fellinian" would fit nicely in your list of adjectives!

Hello! Sorry for arriving late! @Battle: I apologize, but I hadn't noticed your last message! The good Adriano has perfectly clarified my reasoning, and I'm really glad you understood it!;-)!! @Adriano: thank you so much for standing in for me! I must admit that the cake metaphor is particularly effective!;))!! Hi everyone!

What I particularly like about this review is its effectiveness: it's very brief, yet it manages to do justice to a great film. Perhaps just a bit too "hermetic" in the last part. A film that managed to move me when I saw it for the first time as a kid.

Not only did I not see it, but I was even unaware of its existence!.. while I mortify my body to punish myself for my ignorance, I commend the reviewer!
Sofia Coppola Marie Antoinette
Voto:
Personally, I found it quite charming. Not a masterpiece (also because at some points it is redundant and suffers from repetition - see bjorky's comment - and moments of stagnation, scattered here and there), yet definitely enjoyable. It doesn't aim in any way to be a faithful historical reconstruction. As the reviewer says, I believe that Antonietta interests the director more from a personal perspective, as part of a sort of "investigation into youth," rather than as a purely historical figure. For this reason, I personally appreciated the use of "modern" music a lot: it serves to extract the protagonist from her historical context and place her into a more current one, "absolutizing" her. Holy Mary, what a boring comment.. well, I give it a 4 for excess.

@there: nooo!! Were you at that concert too?!? When Sardinas simulated a male masturbation act with the beer bottle, I was in stitches! Go, I love it (by the way, there’s a part of Tender Surrender - my favorite song!! - that I’ve never been able to pull off..), but that night was definitely a gut punch. The review is too long and I don’t have time to read it, maybe I’ll come back to it later.. bye!
