A tattooed woman seduces an old circus director, in front of the silent eyes of a child, the son of the seduced director... A cult where a saint without arms is worshipped, with a temple in which a large tub of "holy" blood is kept. A state of madness controlled by an omnipresent mother, who uses and abuses the arms of her son, denying him, through blood, murder, any woman other than herself. Madness. A circus populated by characters as surreal as they are realistic, at the center of a chaotic and foul-smelling Mexico City. A tightrope walking girl, mute, but with eyes of profound eloquence. Beauty. An elephant, slumped on a staircase, bleeding from its trunk, dying... The death of the father at the hands of the mother. The amputation of the mother's arms at the hands of the father. The only spectator is the small son. A young man, naked, on the ground, bleeding from the nose, dying inside... Blood. Holy Blood. Santa Sangre. Surreal, Dreamlike, Splatter, Circus-like, Symbolic, Fast, Gore, Poetic, Crazy, Neorealist, Delicate, Romantic, Ruthless, Traumatizing, Moving, Slow... A thousand definitions, a thousand words, perhaps all useless in trying to describe this journey inside man, because representing the color of Blood, its smell, its metallic taste, and its heaviness through words... is a very difficult task.
