True when you say that Love Chant is the masterpiece in the masterpiece. An exceptional record.

This review is strange, but in a very good way: it seems too short and appears to say little about the album, yet it turns out to be very effective. Very well done. Regarding the band, I think dedoluz has also spoken for me.

Well, Gaiman has never positioned himself as a particularly original author, has he?!? He's more of an excellent "reevaluator" of myths, works, and history. I believe that a significant part of his skill lies in his ability to weave together elements taken from pretty much everywhere into a coherent framework: in Sandman, the myth of Orpheus, Lucifer, the Aesir, Shakespeare, Emperor Augustus, dozens of quotes or even just hints at literary works (take Leviathan, for example), more or less invented legends, and so much more coexist harmoniously. In this regard, his career as a novelist doesn’t stray far from his comic book work: few "inventions," but a great ability to give a new twist to elements drawn from various sources. Then again, to be fair, I’m the first to admit that the results have not always lived up to his reputation, but to accuse him of a lack of originality doesn’t seem to be the most relevant critique to make: if you're looking for something truly "original," Gaiman simply isn't the right author.

Everything in this film is irritating and/or embarrassing: plot, dialogues, performances... The cameo of "Captain" Fede (who says something like: "Enough with this nonsense, now grab the iron!"), the whole concert part, the protagonist who blathers on to ANYONE who crosses his path with the Zero and Ten story. A kid walks by?! "Kid, tell me: 10 if you liked your Christmas presents, 0 if you preferred the big box of Legos." A lifeguard walks by?! "Lifeguard, tell me: 10 if you saved a hot chick, 0 if you had to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on an old man." And it goes on like that for the ENTIRE film…

In fact, at first I was a bit unsure: if my niece shocks me, my sister will sew two buttons on my eyes and another on...

As I mentioned before, I no longer remember where, I believe Gaiman's career alternates between excellent works and others far less worthy of his name. Neverwhere was a good debut, perhaps not very original in some solutions, but it had some truly successful sequences (especially the first appearance of the angel). Coraline is really cute: I’m even trying to read it to my niece! Stardust and Anansi Boys remain, to this day, the weakest: a bit predictable for the first, and somewhat uninspired for the second. Good Omens I found very entertaining; it reminded me a lot of certain things by Stefano Benni, just a pity for some gaps in the story. American Gods, on the other hand, still remains the high point of Gaiman as a novelist, but if I explain why, goodbye review! :DD
