After the great success achieved with the previous "Radiofreccia," Liga decides to do it again and try his hand once more as a director with the film "Da zero a dieci": I must say that, despite being a big fan of the singer-songwriter from Correggio, I was quite disappointed by this work, especially after seeing his previous film: if in Radiofreccia, the strengths were the simplicity of the story and the almost autobiographical tale of the youth of the '80s, in "Da zero a dieci" the story, despite having an original underlying idea, turns out to be quite flat and not very credible.
The plot is as follows: Baygon, Libero, Biccio, and Giove are four friends over thirty living in Correggio who decide to relive the holidays they spent in Rimini twenty years earlier, reconnecting with 4 girls they had known at the time (as if it were easy to organize a reunion 20 years later with girls they had spent 2 days with at about the age of 15 and hadn’t heard from since..). It is necessary to specify the characteristics of each boy: Baygon, a comical Latin lover; Libero, a character with disturbing mood swings; Biccio, a homosexual doctor; and Giove, obsessed with asking for a rating from zero to ten for everything (hence the title of the film).
Once in Rimini, they immediately recognize the (now former) girls, who are primarily asked about their job, family status, and a numerical judgment on the life they have led so far… Biccio and Libero fall in love with two girls, and Libero amuses himself by throwing "birthdays" for his friends, consisting of fulfilling their deepest desire. Therefore, Giove, the "connoisseur" of ratings from 0 to 10, will sing his blues songs on a stage set up especially for him; Baygon, as boisterous as a poor Latin lover, will spend the night with four prostitutes; Biccio, a homosexual doctor, will parade dressed as a woman on a carriage. Mirco, their friend who died tragically at Bologna station following the famous 1980 attack, is also remembered, and Libero is obsessed with this, feeling responsible for his death.
Libero decides to celebrate his birthday by participating in an illegal rally race at the Misano Circuit, unbeknownst to the others: Giove and his girlfriend, upon learning the news, try to reach him to change his mind, but it's too late, and they see him drive off the track and crash into a wall: dead. The film ends there. Without adding anything about the future of the other characters… a mediocre film with an original plot that could have been developed better.
I have a present of 6, a future of 4 or 9, depending on how I wake up.
