I wouldn't exactly call them Metallica clones. The bands that are heavily drawn upon in this album are Judas and, above all, Iron (a band whose covers were frequently played by the very first Slayer). Just listen to the melodic break in Crionics: one has to wonder if Hanneman ever treated Murray to dinner. In fact, chronicles tell of a rather cold King towards "Chi l'è mol"... Legend even has it that he made a comment along the lines of: "Is that it?! We can do much better...". And indeed...
