U2 Live @ Torino 06.08.10

What follows is just my personal experience. So consider that I don’t want to offend anyone and all that politically correct stuff. Fans of U2 are the most ignorant people I know. Especially musically, but not only. People with a disheartening level of ignorance. They might have all their original CDs, know the lyrics by heart, and are familiar with Bonamassa and Dieg's biographies. But then you ask them if they know, I don’t know... who wrote "Stairway to Heaven," and they’ve never even heard of it. There are two possibilities: either U2 provoke monomania or I have some really terrible friends.

Tsk tsk... here comes the usual, essential comment from the usual, essential affiliate of the last-minute press. Hey little critic!!! hey little critic!!!

I took a look at their MySpace: it’s probably the rawest thing I’ve listened to in years. By the way, those two black wannabees. They’re so ignorant and useless that I almost like them!

Well, I remember perfectly that my sister during puberty collected photos of Nick Kamen (a very sad character from a single hit and then ended up modeling underwear for Postalmarket), listened to the heavily styled New Kids On The Block (which is worth remembering with what, to this day, is their most famous song: YouTube video non trovatoziDtEPCFM0I) and didn’t even mind the guy from Simply Red (awkward silence...). Back in my middle school days, the girls were crazy about Take That, including the chubby one. In short: it’s a wheel that keeps turning...

In the last few days, you and Panapp have introduced me to a world I was completely unaware of, from Versailles (and a couple of other visual kei groups) to Polysics. In both cases, I was quite impressed by the musicians' technique: the guitarist from Versailles is a full-on shredder, and Polysics are really good live, with their keyboardist being a monster. However, I have to say that Versailles play some pretty bland and overused power stuff. From the little I've heard, on the other hand, Polysics do something a bit—I wouldn't say original, but at least a bit less repetitive (like: heavy rock + 16-bit video game console melodies). In both cases, though, it seemed to me that the form (the costumes, the stage setups...) overshadowed the substance. But maybe it's just that I watched two videos on Rubo and didn't understand a damn thing. But then, why should you care about what I think?!? Oh well! The final verdict will be left to the aftermath.

I didn’t understand a thing. And then you used at least 5 words I’ve never heard before. Usually, I really quite like that. Now all that’s left is to check if the coefficient of supercazzola. In any case: great tip.

I couldn’t care less about them. But the keyboardist brings out the worst in me. Stuff that if he gets on TV while I’m having dinner, I don’t change the channel and start insulting him over the air. The ideal would be to form a supergroup: the keyboardist from Dari, the panzerotto from Negramaro, J-Ax... send them all to a deserted island off the Japanese coast and then unleash Godzilla.

Hmm... maybe I could have written it better. As it is, it doesn't really make anyone laugh. I'm off to scrub myself down on my own.

Get used to it. If you're lucky enough to reach my age, you will often find yourself "not being able to find it anywhere."
