Tom McCarthy Il caso Spotlight

I got up to pee and I remembered something I needed to say in the previous comment. One, one, one and forever one until the end of time to the criminal translators who make Keaton say "mentre invece"... Wasn't it enough for you to distort things (even that "Il caso ____" in the title is unnecessary and misleading), now you even allow grammatical errors. Shame on you!

A beautiful film that makes style and balance its strong points, addressing a delicate subject in a calm but effective manner. I really appreciated the decision to never overdo the melodrama, to avoid appealing to the audience’s gut, and not to ride the wave of anger and frustration: it’s an investigative film that aims (and succeeds) to keep the audience constantly informed about what’s happening. Not surprisingly, in my opinion, Ruffalo’s very “Hollywood” outburst halfway through the film is met by Keaton with a laconic/ironic/terse "Are you done?!" Beautiful cinematography. Great actors. Nice musical theme. The only thing that feels somewhat lacking, in my opinion, is the presence of a real "villain." The Church never really appears dangerous; it never seems to have the strength or means to oppose the investigation. Phone calls, more or less friendly chats, half-phrases, or given catechisms aren’t enough: the investigation and the men never seem truly in peril. And perhaps a bit more narrative tension wouldn’t have hurt.

One of the most intense pages I've read around here. Obviously my favorite, and I think the last one I preferred was from 1998. Sooner or later I'll have a life worthy of that name. On that day I'll make love, walk around the house naked, cook myself something good, and read all your reviews at my leisure. Well done, really!

All true and all right, but it must be said that it is nothing more than a state TV remake of that absolute masterpiece "Don Tonino," an '80s series from the Mediaset networks, starring those clods Gigi & Andrea: two guys who in 20 years of career I believe haven't even made their mothers laugh, but in the roles of the "super-smart priest - super-dumb commissioner" they worked quite well.

Everything has already been said, so whatever. I'll add myself to the list of those who liked it, "but"... It's crazy that in 3 hours of film and 7 million pages of screenplay, at least two (but I'd say even three) of the nine characters that appear on screen are left to their own devices. And considering that Madsen gives everyone the soup with just 3 lines of dialogue... Final judgment: all in all, entertaining.

I was convinced that these were doing a club porch gathering in Milan where the really hyped-up guys go, wearing loafers without no-show socks, otherwise everyone sees and they all go hihihihi while drinking Moscow Mules, anything but beer. But if you say so, I trust you. In fact, I become loyal.

The review is cute, and I confess I’ve never heard of these guys. Back in the day, I listened almost exclusively to thrash, and my forays into death and hardcore were really minimal... But, I beg you, fix the punctuation: the space goes AFTER the comma, not before. As it is, it makes me feel unwell.

Rationally, this page would be more or less a 2. It's the 348th on this album, it's full of trivialities, it's poorly laid out, and a million other reasons that I honestly don't even feel like listing. But for some strange reason, I really like you, and by the end of the first paragraph, I went on YouTube to search for "Painkiller full album," and now I'm listening to it. It must have been at least 6-7 years since the last time. The album is truly the perfect heavy metal album. But damn, the sound of the guitars has aged really poorly...

"Parasitic criticism that doesn't get to the point but merely makes a soft and, all in all, tender noise" is the perfect definition for every piece you write. Finally - even if unintentionally - you've hit the nail on the head.

The usual fair of clichés and the overheard, overwritten, overly read. But also of the overdead. Works are reviewed, not artists. For the latter, there’s the definitions section.
