Kyuss Blues For The Red Sun

I primarily responded to Larrok and Madcat. The reference to Halloween was only because I apply the same principle/reasoning to other forms of art and because the same issue had come up regarding that film. My mistake, I sincerely apologize. As for the rest, vote as you see fit.

Take my advice: next January, go outside naked and try to squatting over a throne of ice and antifreeze salt... forget Buzzurrum: you'll see how much you'll appreciate winter and think of Norway! :D

The mistake lies in evaluating this record (or other works, like, say, the first Halloween) with today's categories, without contextualizing it. If listened to today, when this type of sound and these kinds of sonorities, musical structures, insights, and all that jazz have already been pillaged by hundreds/thousands of bands on millions of records, it’s obvious that one might be tempted to dismiss it with a "nice record" and leave it at that. But if we consider that today, 20 years after its release, there are still people going crazy to reproduce (not reinvent, just reproduce) these very sounds and atmospheres, then perhaps it deserves a little more appreciation. The evaluation of works like this (or like, say, the first Halloween) must necessarily go beyond the intrinsic value of the work itself and also take into account the role it has had for the reference genre.

"It remains to be seen how they will continue." Alas, they won't continue at all. :) Cathedral have officially disbanded: in these months they are doing a farewell tour for the fans...
The Doors Run free

@Madcat: I used to have a copy too. Then I swapped it for a copy of Run Free by the Doors.

In my opinion, it competes with this: Hey Joe - Jimi Hendrix - Recensione di The Punisher

Either I've misunderstood that " =8 " or I have the impression that it's a Teletubby who's just seen a Teletubby under the shower...

Ah. And for me in the solo of She painted fire - part, I think there's some bending that, at the right moment, went fishing...

I discovered Agalloch a few weeks ago with "Ashes." I've been listening to this for a few days now. In general, I can say they have all the qualities to be among my favorite bands: they don't play anything impossible, but they are incredibly effective and truly manage to create beautiful atmospheres with dynamics that many (so many) bands can only dream of. The problem is that, damn it, they always have these lovely, melancholic melodies that sometimes become a bit syrupy, making me lose the urge to slit baby goats' throats and stand naked by the window watching the snow fall while I sniff a rose. It's beautiful, sure, but I would prefer to do it with my hands covered in goat blood.
