I have a vague memory of this group, but not of this album. However, it seems to me that they were quite "respected" in the less traditional black scene. Nice review, perhaps a bit too undescriptive, but sometimes that's fine too.

Never read a single line of Cussler... I have to say that action novels are not exactly at the top of my preferences. But great review, timely and precise.

Indeed, the review is lacking in information about the genre... but it is not poorly written. Welcome to debasio.

I saw it too a lifetime ago, after reading its rave review in one of those hefty "Cinema of the 1920s" volumes. You're really good: you've made me want to watch it again.

But you bring me back to my childhood! I literally wore this record out back in the day... I listened to a couple of tracks again and, to be honest, I found a bit of cheesiness in them, but it remains a great album, especially when you consider the context. An animal forever is still a gem today: ideas that might not scream miracles, but are extremely effective and very well utilized. About the review: if I have to be honest, you seemed a bit too focused on praising the album and too little on describing it... It's fine to say the album is cool, but it's also important to explain why. Good job talking about it anyway.

I don't know. I think I'll never fully understand all this idolization of Fulci. This - among the horror films I've seen from the "master" - is one of the best, which says a lot: a script teetering on the edge of ridiculousness (the murders keep happening, but the protagonists seem to not give a damn, the whole scene with the red foam...), below-par acting, dialogues that are scarcely worth mentioning. As far as I understand, my opinion is that Fulci is an excellent butcher, but a terrible filmmaker. As long as he has to shoot individual sequences, perhaps filled with guts and gore, he's the Big Chief. But as soon as he is asked to tell a coherent story, he makes monstrous blunders. I also think of the much-praised Zombie 2, which, aside from those 2-3 truly successful gore scenes, remains a Z-movie that makes Joe D'Amato's horror pornos look like 2001: A Space Odyssey (just consider the priceless Molotov cocktail battle in the warehouse...). Even the excuse of a modest budget doesn't hold: Bava shot Terror in Space with two rocks, a fog machine, and 4 colored lights in a studio on the verge of demolition. The fact that his being a butcher inspired a generation of butcher filmmakers is another story. But to go from there to calling certain of his films Masterpieces and Master seems truly inexplicable...

Point 1): nobody has ever meant to say otherwise. It doesn't seem to me that I talked about polarity on the site in my comment; 2) nobody has ever meant to say otherwise. It doesn't seem to me that I said forums cannot also be used to find a dialogue; 3) Free to think what you want about metal. Especially since in I don't know how many years and I don't know how many posts, I believe the people who have changed their minds after a Debaserian discussion can be counted on the fingers of a severed hand. So just imagine if I even intend to try to change your mind. The fact is, I hear you repeating the same two concepts for years. Really, for years. And always with the same, unchanged resentment. Regarding work, I can assume there may be personal issues at play and that you have your good reasons, so no questions there and I apologize for bringing it up. But, frankly, this refrain about metal being music for idiots... I don’t know, it seems worse than a Manowar record! And I even like you. I really mean it. And no jokes.

@Stoney: I was actually wondering when you would show up... If I'm not mistaken, it's been a while since you last appeared on the site, but you usually pop up as soon as we talk about 1) metal; 2) work. In the first case, you chime in and say that metal is a genre for kids and for people convinced they’re listening to niche music, but in reality, it’s more like "music for wankers." In the second case, you say that working is crap and that we've all had our brains messed up by it. In both cases, it feels like some metalhead workaholic stole your girl in your younger days and you never really got over it. No problem, of course. It’s just that I’ve been hearing you repeat these exact same two concepts FOR YEARS! So the question naturally arises: what music do you listen to while going to work?!?
