The curious thing is that some time ago Michoos posted the link to an article by Panopticon about Tool, where more or less the same discussions were held about the generational turnover of fans and the "user base" that is no longer the same, yet remains unchanged in numbers. And, this is the most curious aspect, even in that case Radiohead were brought up... It's a shame because I know a couple of people who write for that site, and they are talented and genuinely knowledgeable. I don't know...

I saw it this week and I mostly agree with the good Nes, but also with the wise s4doll. Weak plot, but told - at least (or perhaps only) in intentions - in an interesting manner. Paradoxically, the real problem lies precisely in the action scenes, that is, in that portion of the film where Snyder should shine and guarantee the viewer massive doses of adrenaline and enjoyment. After the first temple scene with the giant samurai (which, in my opinion, remains the best and most successful, if only because it's with this that the plan of the work is somewhat defined and the viewer begins to understand what awaits them), the others drag on wearily: once the initial curiosity of discovering what the "next level" setting will be has passed, what remains is still a great visual delight but quickly loses its ability to astonish and, indeed, contributes to revealing the thinness in the writing phase. It's a bit like those Penthouse videos that used to air a few years ago on private TV after midnight: beautiful girls, statuesque bodies, breasts and buttocks sculpted by the hands of all the Gods, endless winking and teasing... but after 5 minutes, it's such a drag. Furthermore, I feel like quoting Alberto Cassani from cinefile.biz, when he says that Snyder doesn't really invent anything visually, but rather limits himself to borrowing and exaggerating techniques and solutions already experimented by others or in different cinematic environments: in this very film, there are numerous elements taken from Japanese animation (e.g., the way of landing with legs spread and one hand on the ground), from SDA (well...), from the inevitable Matrix, slow motion ad nauseam, etc., etc., etc. In any case - all in all - I had fun: I give it a rating of 3 for excess.

BIG CONTEST: "A DRAMATIC TURN OF EVENTS"!!!!! I’ll explain the prizes when I get back from the sea. In the meantime, all you need to know is this: the winner is the one who submits the review that, by the end date of the contest (which we’ll decide later, right now I have to go take a shower), has the LOWEST average rating. Bye bye.

I have their first album, purchased as an original copy at the time of its release (I believe it was around the late '90s-early '00s) and I've never regretted it: truly a gem, especially for the distinctive yet captivating voice and the top-level songwriting. A varied album, genuinely epic and never pretentious, enhanced by original guitar work. I've read that the subsequent albums haven't always lived up to that stunning debut. I'm glad to know they're still around!

I don't have time to read the review, but the film (seen over 10 years ago) I remember as being genius in parts. I'll revisit!

On Trial New Day Rising

I would only need him to answer two questions: 1) how he deduced that On Trial had recorded only one album (especially since there are two reviews on Deb); 2) what Barrett has to do with Echoes. But we know that – as usual – he won’t answer. I think he used his politeness as bait for the little fish.

I’m listening to it these days. On the first listen, I didn’t like it very much: too metal and not enough groove. Now I’m halfway through the second round and I’m already finding some interesting passages. They still feel a bit too calculated for my taste, but I think there’s some good stuff in there. Thanks for the heads up! :)

The review isn't badly written (though I must admit I skipped straight over the paragraph about tracchetebaitracchete...). They should show a bit of modesty and find a job on an oil rig in the North Pole.
