I am about to write the review of one of the most talked-about artists ever, known as Luciano Ligabue. We are in 2010, and two years after the entertaining "Nome E Cognome,"... well... "Arrivederci Mostro" is released, but I would change the title to "Goodbye Ligabue" because this latest album by Liga tells me very little.
The way the album opens makes you think... "What a riveting start," since the first track of the album is the best of the entire work and is called "Quando Canterai La Tua Canzone," which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful songs of his career.
But after an explosive start, Liga slackens with "La Linea Sottile," a truly bland and useless piece and perhaps among the worst in Luciano's career, but not of this album since the worst is yet to come.
"Nel Tempo" is better than the aforementioned track but still doesn't convince, and the chord progression is the same as in another 20 songs Liga had done previously.
"Ci Sei Sempre Stata" is another copy of his other pieces, and the lyrics are truly trivial and at times ridiculous (listen to believe)... I don't want to dwell too much on this piece.
In the middle part of the album, Ligabue recovers with nice tracks like "Atto di Fede" and "Un Colpo All' Anima" (a super hit that could be compared to Happy Hour from the last album).
In the final part, it truly falls, though... I'm not sure who could define "Il Peso Della Valigia" a rock piece... I struggle to even call it pop... three chords... a catchy chorus and then... I don’t know...(also recently released as a single).
Another track I wanted to focus on is "Il Meglio Deve Ancora Venire," which probably saves the album along with the track (at least it has good lyrics).
In short... Ligabue could certainly have done better with this album (it is probably the worst along with Fuori Come Va?).
It's known, however, that sooner or later all great artists turn commercial, and Ligabue is no exception. The times of "Ligabue" and "Sopravvissuti e Sopravviventi," I believe... will not return.

If they chose this song to encourage the purchase of the album, then Liga has truly hit rock bottom.
This 'Arrivederci, mostro' is a good album, showcasing a Ligabue more of a storyteller than usual, who for the first time seems to have wanted to give much importance to the lyrics.

Liga is honest when he writes, he strives to do it always well and always in a, more or less, original way.
The piece is not bad, but the comparisons are inevitable and pitiless. Liga is good but too cunning.

Goodbye, Monster. Farewell Ligabue. Farewell to the raw and simple sounds coming from the Po Valley and the desire to create genuine rock.
The true Ligabue no longer exists, the one I like, but only a character who sings nice but all-the-same songs, crafted for the record company and his pockets.
