But how strange... how is it possible that this deMeeting just 4 minutes from my house slipped my mind back then?!?! Damn, at every deMeeting I had to rack up hundreds of kilometers. I could have come here by bike!

Good review. Also because it accurately describes my thoughts on this band. I remember the hype surrounding the release of Tales from etc (with the catchy single Black Winter Day, which was even played in rock clubs despite the growl) and the compositional shift in Elegy initially made us raise our eyebrows (some even spoke of "commercialization"), but soon we realized that we were actually listening to a masterpiece. None of the subsequent albums (which I admit I’ve only listened to superficially) impressed me and, in fact, they left me with the very feeling of musical stagnation you mention. Your page at least has the merit of making me want to listen to this album! Well done.

It is truly sad to see a reviewer who, despite having lived through his seasons, now presents himself bloated, weighed down by lunch breaks featuring leftover pizza from the night before and an all-too-evident lack of mating rituals with his spouse. Even more tragic are these frantic attempts to appear inspired, resorting to tired rhetorical tricks that show their strain from the very first lines, if not from the very first words. Therefore, I extend my compassionate, pitying embrace to the reviewer, along with a heartfelt "juve merda," which never hurts.

I started watching it a few evenings ago. Surely it's my fault, the job, the family, the heat, the war, etc., etc., but maybe it’s also that it's annoyingly light and predictable at times. The formula is worn out, the subject matter (both regarding rock/metal and the "different," the nerd, the adolescent fragilities, etc.) has already been addressed several times, with, I believe, better results and at least an attempt at greater depth. I don't like caricatured characters, cut from a single mold, I don't like being a loser at all costs, the coarse discomfort. If I really wanted to slide into the metal stereotype, even the musical aspect is questionable on several occasions. I haven't finished it and I have no desire to finish it.

I put it on by chance Sunday morning while I was shelling beans. I listened inevitably distracted and casually, but it didn't seem too bad to me. I would definitely say it's better than the previous one, which left me a bit "meh."

You are an exceptionally valuable resource for this site. You always signal, in an impeccable manner, works that make me wish I had unlimited time to dedicate to reading. Congratulations.
Alessandro D'Avenia L' arte di essere fragili. Come Leopardi può salvarti la vita
Voto:
Leopardi is one of the great regrets of my adolescence/school years. Studied superficially in high school (mainly because I was too focused on girls and heavy metal and still girls), I sensed his greatness when it was already a bit too late and I no longer had the time or the mindset to get back to studying. That said, this book - noble in purpose though it may be - smells a bit like trash to me: oh, I know it’s a pretty stupid reasoning, but even Gramellini wouldn’t want that cover. Then there’s the subtitle, which has that typically adolescent big-man absolutism; no thanks.

A director I was very passionate about during my most intensely Japanophile period. I haven't watched one of his films for roughly 10 years: I believe the last one was actually Western Django (which I remember fondly). I recall that at some point, his frankly excessive prolificacy had really annoyed me, making it physically impossible to keep up with his releases. I don’t think I would be able to truly appreciate one of his films today, but it's always worth discussing him nonetheless.

I completely agree with the review. It’s a satirical comedy that is quite crude, veering into easy caricature too often. I won’t go further because I’m sure everything I have to say has already been said. However, there’s one thing I can’t refrain from mentioning: at a certain point, I couldn’t take it anymore and I watched it in English... for a few years now, Di Caprio’s voice actor has become intolerable to me. He was objectively fine during the time of Titanic, but with the advancing age and weight (of Di Caprio, but also mine), I think it’s absolutely necessary to give him a less shrill voice.
