I would add that it is one of the few bands that has received more jeers than Europe and Bon Jovi...

Congratulations on dusting off this band, which was also mimicked by the Red Hot in the Dani California video. Indeed, despite the look of girly boys, they were quite rascals with flings even with Baywatch actresses. The music was an unpretentious pop-hard rock, very melodic and party-like but, as you pointed out, still done with class. The album Native Tongue with Richie Kotzen on guitar was their mature record in which they left behind cotton and lipstick.

Well, I’m probably the author of the message that particularly amused the author. In the meantime, I hope he takes a look, as a devoted fan, at my review of Cleaning out the Closet; on the other hand, I want to point out that his bias might be the triggering factor of the hurricane, even though it seems to have hit a review of Symphony X. The album is nice, maybe even better than I&W, but saying it’s among the best of modern music is exaggerated: using that expression is one of the most dangerous things that can happen here on Debaser. For example, he could have modified it to ā€œit's one of the best albums I’ve ever heard,ā€ and it would have already been better...

Styx The Grand Illusion

When you say that Italy has never had a rock culture, you are mistaken. Great Italian prog bands were very much appreciated abroad, and Genesis had more fans in Italy than in England. If anything, the musical style of Styx, straddling between prog and American AOR, is hardly digestible here in Italy, where certain sounds have never gained traction.

Look, the review is well-written and well-argued; however, the fact remains that this is the classic transitional album to a masterpiece that will later be Slippery When Wet. It’s an album made to fulfill record label commitments and to ride the wave of success from the first work. However, given the awfulness of the last albums, I think it deserves to be re-evaluated.

Anyway, it seems that Den has left the island because the regrowth of his eyebrows was starting to show...
