On Vasco and Liga: in my opinion, Vasco was greater in his time (1978-1985). Comparing them today, I find that both are doing lots of promotional stunts, but Vasco does it not only in promotion but also in the product, while (in my humble opinion) Liga saves the product (which is still of high quality) despite becoming a big promoter. @anakin70: you’re right, although nothing, ever, will take me/us away from the masterpieces of the golden years. @ajeje: your reasoning seems to be, summarizing and perhaps oversimplifying, "it's good because it's new and in line with the times," just to contrast with a position you believe to be conservative, but it isn’t. Everything has a birth, development, and death, just like you and I and so-called light music. Today, my friend, we are reaching a tipping point, and it’s sheer denial to say otherwise. This obsession with singles from phones and advertisements is pure decline, just like the extinction of the album as a project and work of art. At least, in my opinion (primiballi.blogspot.com)

Well... what I wanted to say, and which I reiterate, is that, honest or not, it’s a very current marketing argument and seemingly (so far) a winning one... I believe more in the honesty of those who engage in reasoning and carry out truly austere behaviors (and for that reason, potentially self-destructive)...: let me make an apparently irrelevant example. Is it more credible a man who gives you a sermon about women’s brains only to then get involved with a twenty-year-old model, or one who gives you the same sermon and ends up with a 45-year-old university professor...? Meditate, people, meditate (it’s easy to be preachers when you profit, always and anyway...: try making the choices of Waits, Vasco, or those of the late Battisti, whom you claim to admire so much, if you have the courage...) But as I wrote....???: so, errata corrige: "feelings" "beautiful" "goofball" (the rest seems right to me... it's hard to do everything from work....)
Ivano Fossati L'Arcangelo

@josi: I hope you’re joking... but if you're not, perhaps it’s worth pointing out that the harmony of "l'amore fa" is simple to the point of being banal, and that’s where the (apparent) similarity with at least 1000 other pieces lies and the absolute greatness of Fossati, who arrives at simplicity after an incredibly long and grand journey (this is why "l'amore fa" is infinitely better than anything it might resemble...) great definition: go for it. Everything you find about Colin and the MAW is gold (and don’t trust anyone who says otherwise)

Great! We have exactly the same feelings: it's nice to think that there are still people so wonderfully goofy... amidst the prevailing seriousness (in music, do you still know anyone with a shred of self-irony...???)

Don't get angry... it's already good that Deb exists... come on... Anyway, I agree, not the best DeGregori, but if the worst he can do is this or Miramare... well... he is undeniably a great artist.

I defer any comments (which would be excessively long) to my review of the same album, here and on my blog (primiballi.blogspot.com)

@uxo: "popular" term, beautiful, ambiguous, and overused, root of the same "pop," should be explained (at least in what you believe is its meaning).

@pros12: you're not entirely wrong, but when it comes to the post-Waters texts, perhaps it's better to hold off. The other three are monumental in terms of "pure sound." Literarily, the real author was no longer there...
