Pink Floyd The Final Cut
Voto:
For the one who bears the nickname he doesn't deserve: I know the sound of the Pink Floyd very well (as well as that of your -...- Doors), if only because I’ve played them all my life. But I don’t think this is either the place or the time, and even less the authority... for interrogations. Well: what some foolishly call the trilogy of money are for me the true masterpieces. Amen, if some pretentious pseudo-alternatives don’t think so... there are a lot of people who agree with me in considering Dark one of the most beautiful albums in the history of the second half of the twentieth century...

I clarify (and I'm glad someone noticed). For me, "Viva" and "Quella che non sei" are catchy tracks, meaning they're written with a very specific reference, namely the average girl. Liga has always been, in my opinion, very sincere and straightforward, as Emilians can be. Those two songs, but I also add "Hai un momento dio," are too simple for his pen, created to draw applause. But all great artists have a more banal and catchy album in their discography, almost always the best-selling one. As you may have understood, I consider "Buon compleanno Elvis" the least exciting album of ours. By far. But of course, this is just an opinion.

It's beautiful but too focused on caution. I believe that for Jhosua and Achting we can and should talk about masterpieces (unfortunately never repeated... although the standards are always very high). Speaking of the album, I like it a lot, definitely among the best of the post-Achtung era. Then there's the most beautiful ballad ever (Stay), which for me is definitely superior to the excellent One.

soloist...in short...sure, the others haven't written a line, but the sound is there...absolutely The best true solo work without pink is Amuse To Death (and by the way, I also really like Final Cut...maybe even more than The Wall...it's the comparison to Dark and Wish that seems heretical to me...)
Pink Floyd The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

JimMorrison, I respect your idea, but I absolutely don’t share it. I consider Barrett one of those many myths that get ultra-amplified by death (in his case, only musically...). To say that Waters is out of tune, forgive me, but that’s nonsense, matched only by Bocelli’s ridiculous claim a few years ago that Battisti was out of tune. Here we sing the Floyd, not Puccini. Here, we don’t care about beautiful singing. Here, we need to convey emotions. And the story of the Pink, pardon, was made by David and Rog.

let's not reopen the (to me, crazy) debate about the commerciality of Dark Side... please...: The fact is that, in my opinion, comparing only Dark and Wish to Final Cut is bordering on pure heresy...
Tom Waits Small Change
Voto:
beautiful album, but it doesn't capture the first Waits at all, in my opinion. It is rather the pure beginning of the second (and perhaps better) Waits. Here TW has changed his voice, the piano ballads are becoming increasingly nocturnal and minimalist. The early albums were nice works from a swinger with a somewhat Dylan-esque and frankly a bit anonymous voice. I think the "small change" is -perhaps indirectly- also aimed at this fact (I've always noticed a parallel between this small change and the giant leaps of Coltrane's memory...). Anyway, I repeat, an unmissable album (even though I personally consider it inferior to Blue Valentine)...

Is it enough to write to the dead to become good...? Bah...an interesting theory, although outrageously wrong. I only get emotional with this one and with Tommy by Vecchioni...but I'm eagerly waiting for Titty Iron to come around...
Ligabue Fuori come va?
Voto:
the bitterly resentful anti-success man, in just the first two lines, manages to insult a lovely little town in Reggio Emilia, deserving of recognition even if only for gastronomic reasons, and the immense Moretti, to whom an unwarranted involuntariness is attributed that makes no sense whatsoever. The only involuntary things here are the endless clichés that spread about Ligabue simply because he has that (well-deserved) success that many who keep their little songs hidden in a drawer have always dreamed of...

beautiful album, and of course considered the worst by the so-called official critics... Personally, I believe Bluesugar is an excellent and superior record, but there would be a long discussion to have... (maybe it would be quicker to write the review...)
