Paolo Conte Live @ Arena Flegrea, Napoli - 05/09/2006

I repeat what I've said elsewhere: Conte is a great man, perhaps the best, but no one will ever take away the doubts that he immediately raised in me, and that continue to raise, this bunch of nerdy little professors he is surrounded by... (Ahhh... Ellade, Jimmy, Antonio,... ahhh... good times). Then, said with the utmost respect and admiration that I feel for him, the traditional encore of “via con me” doubled is nonsense (someone has to tell him... right...?).

Speaking of music (...!!??) do you think this has been (and is) the best live performance of Our...? who knows... and is he better live or in the studio...?
Lucio Battisti Una giornata uggiosa
Voto:
strange album...: I have the demos with voice and guitar, and the quality of the work seems indeed much, much higher. here, the arrangement of the time is paid a bit too much. anyway, personally, while I share a lot of what you're saying, I've always found "una giornata" to be far superior to "una donna..."....: at least here there are two peaks (the title track and "con il natro rosa") that are absolutely absent there...(but yes...there's "prendila così"...but it's not enough...)...but, excuse me, Poletti (who seems quite good to me), why does everyone have it in for you...???
Edoardo Bennato OK Italia
Voto:
Well... I, who have loved Bennato very much and who always speak gladly of him (see my piece on the miserable adventure with Britti), find that this album is a work of transition. There are still a few acceptable ideas (certainly not the two singles), but overall there’s an air of clear decline and the disturbing shadow of the horrible commercialism that he will soon embrace (not all commercialism is horrific... his, unfortunately, is).

I have always believed that Pezzali is among the 4/5 who have destroyed great Italian music (certainly unconsciously) by becoming protagonists in the "let's empty our brains" project that has had so much success in the last fifteen years... killgod: I hope you are talking about Vasco from "Gli spari sopra" onward, and that for generational reasons you legitimately ignore what came before...

I swear on my guitars that I'm not a green shirt... but let all the waste from the south go to Germany... many stop long before, with the indulgent approval of those who (even here) make quite a profit from it... if we want to have a serious discussion, we must necessarily talk about maintenance, because that's where the game is played: if you do it well, you’re burning what you need to burn (nothing more or different), the incinerator works just fine... but will these conditions ever be respected in Italy...? I’ll just tell you that in Paris there are two incinerators, providing electricity to entire neighborhoods, which pay little to nothing, and the construction of the third was requested by the Greens in the city council (!!!!). The problem isn't doing things, but doing them the Italian way...

Well... I believe I am a seventh-degree black belt in Prince (and I welcome any challenge on this), and I have to say that this album is definitely less dreadful than many of those that preceded it in recent years (especially the mediocre Musicology before it). It will be... de gustibus... For a deeper analysis on the subject, I (re)recommend my piece on "one nite alone live!"

Fuck....: no one told me to fuck off...???!!! I'm really happy, and thanks to everyone. rebelde: I find it strange that, aside from the generational thing, you can't find anything in the early songs of Vasco... try listening to them again and clear your mind of all the voices that have cloned a lot (Carboni), a lot (Simone), or everything (Grignani) from that. Try to immerse yourself in that fantastic era without helmets, seatbelts, and especially cell phones, and listen to Vasco making fun of you from a (semi)free radio... I swear it's a blast, and not a little...
