Guccio is still the same Guccio, it's true, but for many years, by his own admission, his main interest has been writing, while he occasionally engages in music "always redoing the same record," which is not a bad thing in itself (for someone who writes so well) but certainly marks the distance from the golden years. This live performance is proof of that. It's beautiful, much more than listenable, it knows how to endear itself, but it's light years away from the masterpiece "tra la via Emilia e il west"...

I personally consider it the best of Italian music of all time, along with Vol. 1 and 2 by Fossati, De André with PFM, and "Fra la via Emilia e il west" by Guccio. All the others, some of which are truly beautiful, come after.

What I wanted to say is: think about the opinion that we (almost all) have of Vasco today and the one we would have had if he had left us orphans after "Va bene..."... or, turning the tables, think of Rino alive, who would almost definitely be hopping around, completely sold out, between a festivalbar (if things went well for him) and a balera (if things went badly...)

I wouldn't quite agree: the film, despite being a homegrown provincial production, was quite nice (definitely better than the one that followed), and the album can be described in every way except "self-referential"... how can an instrumental album be self-referential for someone who has never made one...? It's like me becoming self-referential with my first painting... bah... either we don't agree on the terms or, dear Poletti, this time you've really missed the mark (said with affection, you know I'm not one of those who insults you outright). Then the mention of the bank account... really... isn't it a bit dusty to keep considering money the devil's excrement...?

I'm in agreement with Tom: I challenge the unpopularity, but I too maintain that the geniuses of songwriting live elsewhere and that there has been an excess of (re?)evaluation due (unfortunately) to his death. He was good, provocative, entertaining, but just try to imagine what Vasco would have been if he had died after the "spiritual testament" "that's fine, that's fine like this"....

mea culpa mea culpa mea maxima culpa: I confirm that in the booklet (both in the vinyl, the CD, and the cassette... it's the only record for which I have all 3 originals), inside, there is confirmation of what you say: the old side A features Marangolo. I apologize, with a certain annoyance towards myself for the rookie mistake (besides, the "drumming" really did seem like Tullio's... thus a willful mistake...). Amen: regarding the tracks, you are probably right there too; I often get caught up in the atmosphere and the role of the record in the macrocosm and the micro... it's my style, but I believe it would be right to talk more about the tracks.

one of the prime examples of the prevailing Fuffa imposed by the market (more idiotic than ever)

last little question: do you think it's necessary to elaborate on the analysis of the individual tracks, rather than discussing the musical and historical role of a product...? in this review, I wanted to frame an era, a product, a problem, and above all, the symbol of a turning point... is that permissible? I don't believe reviews should have rigid standards or be obligated in any way (no offense intended, okay...? it’s just to understand each other).

I wouldn't want to be mistaken, but at least in the editions I have, both Marangolo and De Piscopo are mentioned, though not with track distinctions... which edition do you have? I then saw the Musicante tour in Pietra Ligure and Tullio was there too. So perhaps I took too much for granted... anyway, keep me posted, as I appreciate perfection (usually I try not to get things wrong...)

for me the last great Pino, although subsequent to the "spiritual testament" live "Sciò"
