Prince Around The World In A Day

I believe I am the only one, along with you, to have the eighth dan black belt in Prince. Your expertise and passion are evident. I just hope it's passion and not religion... you can't argue that all records are "neither better nor worse than the previous or subsequent ones, just new testimonies of his artistic moment," since it's helpful, even for us, to understand that there are inferior works and to try to comprehend why... among these, of course, this album does NOT belong, which is beautiful and a product of the absolute golden period (have you seen my review of the live album?) Sting The Soul Cages

great Grass, I now see this review, which I absolutely share...: the least loved, least known, and perhaps most beautiful of Sting's solo albums. I don’t know if you’ve happened to revisit the entire Stingian oeuvre recently, but I have to say that having done so, I've discovered that many works have undergone reevaluations ("nothing..." less beautiful than I remembered, "mercury..." certainly more), except for this "soul cages," which for me was a melancholic and autumnal masterpiece back then and remains so, unchanged in sounds, atmospheres, and meanings. a sad and beautiful album.

@poletti: here I agree with you (but isn't it that with your signature there are two or three of you...? or do you have a double/triple personality...? and, above all, why do you never respond to me...???) @sorelladitatangelo (I'm sorry but I'm not calling you Gilmour) but can we know why when someone says "Vasco" you have a hysterical scene...? are you possibly a woman (with the marquis)...??? @fidia: I am the least racist person in the world, so the reference was primarily to all those who don’t understand that Vasco, charming or not, was, in some way, and to all those who think that an artist has to please everyone by saying things that everyone likes (and I don’t believe it should be like that: I swear that a book titled "primiballi is an idiot" if written well, would have all my admiration and my reading).

Here, polè, I even like you...: beautiful record even if NS has produced, even recently, beautiful things that are, fundamentally, superior (if nothing else in the "artistic project"). Keep an eye on Jannacci (not from Sanremo), who is worth it.

@tom...: I see that you, too, are no spring chicken and tend to put "hippos" among the recent ones... (Anyway, I completely agree with you regarding the substance of the discussion...: among recent things, there are beautiful and mediocre works, but unfortunately, even within the same album "per amore mio," it was an emblematic example). @poletti: to say that the first work of an artist suffers from "the usual meticulous and neat little job, with the same old music, the same convoluted references, and the usual professor-like snobbery" is to say something ridiculous: at debut, one cannot imitate oneself. I'm starting to suspect a bit about the validity of your noted quirks... (and I’m a bit sorry about it).

evidently, few understood the intended repetition (ah... guys... you're still too close to the rules...), anyway, thank you wanderer. I also confirm that I fully intend to continue with sellani, as I am a devoted follower. He is the only one from the so-called "old school" who doesn’t have the demeanor of a colonized individual...

a very beautiful album and an excellent review indeed, which shows knowledge of the character and the scene. The devotees of cantautorato are (...we are...) all in all few... so we need to bond as much as possible. Given your expertise, what do you think, Iside, about Vecchioni from the 80s to the 00s? ragas: danilo 87, if he was born in '87, it's already quite a lot that he knows how to immerse himself in another era and understand (which many others can't do) what the innovative and musically revolutionary impact of the rock singer-songwriter style of Vasco in the first 5-6 albums was. the album definitely deserves recognition, and a lot, even though it’s curious that hordes of fans have never realized that in "colpa d'alfredo" there's a provocative and somewhat racist hint towards Southern Italy, a theme that can also be found, at times, in other tracks (see certain passages of "alibi"). today it would be impossible, politically incorrect, and surely no one would produce it in the climate of opportunism that's been dominant in recent years... a concise reception but potentially good.

I have always found them to be as fake as they are cunning, but that's just my personal opinion. Morgan, before, during, and after, unbearable.

@surferkangaroo: sorry, but there’s advertising and advertising... if I were to end my posts with an advertisement for my business (which is legally allowed, and as you can see I don’t even mention what the business is), it would be morally questionable, and I agree. The fact that I instead end my posts with an invitation to visit a blog that talks only and exclusively about music, and is completely free of advertising (so I obviously don't make any money from it)... well... I don’t see anything wrong in promoting it, absolutely nothing. Of course: if one of the editors of this wonderful and highly frequented (by me) site, where I write weekly reviews just for the pleasure of doing it and discussing them, told me "stop promoting the blog," I would do it immediately. Of course, I reciprocate every gesture of peace. Regarding Battiato: "mondi lontanissimi" is a good album, but a bit "sloppy" and certainly not among the best, regardless of sales (Poletti... oh my... if you look at that, besides revealing limits I never imagined, you will consequently deduce that Pausini is infinitely greater than Mina............)
