Jazzanova In Between

You know, one can discuss everything and even justify anything. An album like Zero Tollerance by Silence is for many an misunderstood masterpiece, while for others it's a complete mess. It's always very hard to convince someone otherwise. In an album like In Between, I found very few interesting things, perhaps spoiled by the genre that, if you haven't noticed, doesn't really excite me. It transmitted me zero emotions and I didn't find the sound intriguing or original either: I much prefer the frantic rhythms of the disjointed funk of Matmos or the electronic funk of certain things by Mouse on Mars, just to give an example. That's where there's real "space," not here, which sounds so cloying and cheesy to me, like certain acid-jazz collections you find at the newsstand (I listened to this at least twice, alas! so I speak with justification, at least FOR ME)...

If Odradek, Lukin, and Davidino claim that this is a masterpiece, there are three possibilities: 1) they are three trendy disco enthusiasts, 2) they are light and superficial when it comes to music, 3) they settle for and/or are dazzled by the graphics or similar gimmicks. I repeat: this IS a BORING, BANAL, and LITTLE INTERESTING album that I challenge anyone who doesn't fall into one of the first three points to listen to it three times in a row WITHOUT a yawn or a sense of annoyance.

But the question is: did someone like FORTIS really need to trash himself in a reality show? Really, really??

Well, I actually thought about comic stories... imagine if a newspaper like IL MUCCHIO or ROCKERILLA, or others, published a little story like that drawn in comics every month (maybe by Tanino Liberatore... wow, what nonsense!!) oh my, they might risk lawsuits... who knows...

Alright, everything is "very polished" and "not very rock"... so what? You told me almost nothing about the album and then, excuse me, but for crying out loud, it’s not possible that ALMOST ALL the albums reviewed on this site GET FIVE STARS. Come on, a little bit of "critical awareness," no? At least a minimum of "Decency," given the role of the reviewer, right?? Seriously, come on... now EVERYONE's producing masterpieces from Bennato to Punkow, from Mino Reitano to Madonna, from the White Stripes to that obscenity of the latest New Order, so you just throw everything into the pot and EVERYTHING is FINE and the complete opposite of fine...anything goes... talking nicely is easy for everyone (it doesn't cost anything and it doesn't offend anyone)... I don't know.

I agree with the review: the album is ultimately unbearably boring and derivative, even if there are very few Italians who do things like this. I prefer Marco Parente then (even though he copies Radiohead...)
