New Order Waiting For The Sirens' Call

A few days ago, I went on vacation and, overcome with guilt, I put this latest album by New Order in the CD player. Let’s see, I told myself, if I exaggerated and if, after all, there’s something to save here... Well, yes, after 16 minutes, flipping from one track to another, I couldn't resist and took it out. I mean: I can't find one, just one, more than acceptable reason to appreciate this record. Not one original sound, not one intelligent riff, not one interesting voice, not even the lyrics, for as little as I understood... the absolute void filled with 80s clichés, silly rhythms, etc. Now please, someone explain to me WHAT THE HELL REASON someone should listen to this album (I mean someone who has already heard and devoured The CURE and the like), and I will be eternally grateful.

"one of the rare interviews with Paddy, in which he candidly confessed that there was very little new material on the album in question. The tracks are all, or almost all, 'luxury leftovers,' which, in my opinion, only further demonstrate the value of the artist." ... still with this fucking rhetoric?! Hooray for honesty: it was an album of ugly and insignificant tracks, and the fact that Paddy admitted it doesn't make it a good album... the album remains a bad album, and good old Paddy was just honest in admitting it, period. The rest is just pointless rambling, rhetoric, and useless retroanalysis.

I didn't like this album at all... having been a fan of Steve McQueen and Swoon, listening to this felt like a letdown... was I expecting too much?

Here... about The Gunman... I didn't like it at all... everything that was in the previous albums has been wiped out, CD bought and immediately resold. What a shame!

More than a critique, it seems like the script for a short film: are you sure you want to continue doing music criticism? Is that why you sign as "anonimo"? Who knows...
Guns N' Roses Appetite for destruction

WHAT THE HELL: Is this a review?! Like "great album, trust me and don't criticize." Roddick, are you stupid?! Let those who know how to critique do it, or at least try. If you like G'N'R that's your business, go wank off to them, but criticism, my boy, is a whole different story, what the hell!

What to say?! Is there really nothing else to listen to around? Listening to a Nick Drake or, I don’t know, a Jeff Buckley again? Something less saccharine and market-driven, right?
The White Stripes Elephant

I am very conflicted about this Elephant just like with the entire WS production. What’s the point of redoing things that have already been done excellently (and often much better) by others in the not-so-distant past? If the reason is that every generation needs its "live" rock’n’roll stars, then that’s another discussion; otherwise... I remain puzzled. To be fair, it’s nice, sometimes beautiful, but all terribly deja-vu.
