Here’s the point: "1977" is a good album, nothing more. The guys showed promise. Then the hotshot showed up playing the second guitar, and I thought: maybe now there’ll be a nice touch of feminine class and they’ll make the leap. Not at all, a backward evolution with no brakes. The last one I bought was the singles collection, and I finally reached enlightenment: the Ash are a band of singles, and that’s it. 2-3 good songs per album, the rest is filler. To be forgotten.
