The album hasn’t arrived in my area yet; it seems there have been distribution problems, unfortunately... I can't wait though because those tracks I've already listened to (live and otherwise) seem to promise a lot. Great review, although I completely disagree that Medulla is unlistenable. Pretentious, yes, but I find it definitely more enjoyable and "fun" than Vespertine.

I had already commented on the other one, but I liked this review too. In my opinion, American Dol Posse is a nice album; of course, it should be taken into account that she has long (unfortunately) not been the same as in her early days, that her sound, especially from Scarlet's Walk onwards, has become increasingly American and "full", more in line with many other American singer-songwriters... but this is definitely the best among her recent albums, the most balanced and inspired, featuring her best songs from the past few years. And in the end, her 80 minutes, even thanks to its unevenness, are not that heavy to listen to in one go. However, some songs, like Almost Rosey, Beauty Of Speed, and Dark Side Of The Sun, I really don’t like; I'm surprised that the first two are the ones she’s focusing on the most in her recent live performances, oh well...
@ poetarainer: the photo you’re referring to is inside the booklet.

For me, it's her best album since From The Chorigirl Hotel... but now that she's managed to create an almost mile-long album that's mostly beautiful/pleasurable (almost rosey and dark side of the sun are really bad, not to mention secret spell!) I hope that next time she returns to making a shorter album!

The review is well-written and reinforces the prejudices I had towards this album that I still haven't listened to yet. However, I don't agree on one thing: no one pays attention to the Scissor Sisters in their homeland...

Noiosetto is undoubtedly boring... but it's better than the previous album; at least it lacks those terribly 80s and plastic-dance sounds of its early productions. Unfortunately, despite her beautiful voice, she has never managed to have an album written that lives up to its potential from beginning to end... when a great voice is not enough...

She's an artist I’ve never explored in depth... I don’t know why, yet I’ve liked every single of hers that I’ve heard; this review has definitely piqued my curiosity! By the way, why hasn't she released an album in over ten years!?

beautiful, concise, and direct...almost like the album, definitely the most enjoyable to listen to by Suede, although I personally prefer Dog Man Star.

Well, for goodness' sake, I can't judge the album either... I might always change my mind! I just hope it’s not a complete dud, you know, a 1-star rating, since I’ll have to pay for it! :)

Well, for now everyone is talking positively about it, not just (just to change things up) NME, and honestly judging an album (negatively) solely based on the publicity it gets from NME is becoming too common and hasty of a game. At least let’s listen to it first, preferably without too much bias, and then we can judge... anyway, it seems to me that so far only the Guardian has panned it (but I’ve never considered them particularly authoritative compared to others)... I’m more curious about Pitchfork's verdict.

Just yesterday I ordered this album... reading your review I should say "damn, what did I do!?" but I'm not that worried, clearly you wanted, you expected, a dirtier, "stranger" record, but I'll never understand what's wrong with tuning the guitars, tuning the vocals, and polishing the keyboards, as if that necessarily means flattening and commercialization. While I wait to judge the whole album... in the meantime, I really like all their 4 singles quite a bit.
