Why don’t you identify yourself since you left the last comment?

I stumbled upon this CD a few years ago, for academic reasons: during my Contemporary Italian Literature course at the university, we were studying the Futurist movement, and I was reading about one Russolo, the creator of the *machine for noises* (or something like that). This machine prominently features on the cover of this CD. This CD is a tribute to the Futurist movement and to Russolo's invention. It should be taken for what it is, and in that regard, it deserves a 5 rather than a 4. Now, of course, if we want to ask questions like "what's your favorite piece?" or discuss rhythmic sections and grooves, then the album is utterly terrible, in fact, it's a non-album. In other words, if we bought the album because it says Mike Patton on it and we don’t know what to expect, we'll be very disappointed. But if we know who Carrà, Balla, or Boccioni are, who Marinetti is and who Russolo is, then this album deserves a 5.

Ah, talebana! ;-) I stand by my opinion: *Regalo di Natale*, which is a great film, is still from those years, I think the mid-'80s, along with *Una gita scolastica* and *Festa di laurea*, it's still a great Avati. I like it a lot, pupattola, I don’t criticize it! But from then on, IN MY OPINION, it becomes mannered and a pure reiterator of himself. Basically, that's where he stopped.

Pupi Avati "one of the greatest geniuses of Italian cinema" seems to me a bold statement. The first Avati, awkward and irreverent, is one thing; the sentimental and trivial Avati from *Una gita scolastica*, which I still save, is painful moving forward. This is a truly unsettling film, one of the best Italian horrors of the period, indeed a film that identifies a possible Italian route to horror. In this film, the bassa Padana is portrayed in a frightening key, horror is generated by its silence and monotony of landscape, with perversions and crimes lurking in unsuspecting provinces. I also recommend Pupi Avati's *Zeder*, a few years later (possibly from '80 or so), shot between Bologna and the Lidi Ferraresi, a film that has been literally plundered by American horror cinema - chief among them is *Pet Sematary*. And *Tutti defunti tranne i morti* is also really amusing, it seems contemporary to *La casa dalle finestre che ridono*, featuring a scene of Russian roulette between Carlo Delle Piane and Michele Mirabella, with Cavina as an enthusiastic spectator, a moment for the annals of cinema!

And I'm certainly not a fan of Guns.

But why a sparse review then? A concise and precise review, hurray for those with the ability to synthesize. Well done, except for the thing about Nevermind. A 5-star album for life.

Flavio, do you know Amorphis? I found them very interesting at first, but then they declined. What do you think? Are you familiar with Tiamat? Do you like any of their albums? And finally, I ask if you know the albums "Soul of a New Machine" and "Demanufacture" by Fear Factory.

I have *Symphony of Sickness* (or something like that) and Necroticism by Carcass. In my opinion, they are two great albums. I used to have some others, but they made me sick they were so bad. So I would definitely save these two from Carcass and throw away everything else. From Slayer, I have *Reign in Blood*, *Hell Awaits*, and *Seasons in the Abyss*. The best is Reign, but I don't mind the other two either, even though Slayer gets on my nerves. As for your other questions, I’m 31 years old and I also have an email address, but I won’t write it here because it would be readable by everyone and interceptable by worms, and I wouldn’t want to receive loads of spam in my inbox.

Dear Flavio, I only have the first Machine Head album, I can’t remember the title, the one that starts with *Davidian*. I know I've also mentioned some non-thrash bands (Napalm Death, which yes, play grind), I personally consider Carcass more speed than death, and Annihilator are definitely thrash.

Hi Flavio, off the top of my head, I can tell you that I own tapes by Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Carcass, Napalm Death, Machine Head, Pantera, Annihilator, and definitely other bands that I can't remember right now (I should look for the tapes at home; I don't recall them all at the moment).
