There are manyyy reasons to explain the 5 stars I've given to this album.
1) It is the best-selling debut album of all time (25 million copies);
2) it has influenced at least half of what many visitors to this site listen to (Marilyn Manson, Darkness, System of A Down, etc.) whatever you may think and before you start throwing crap at me;
3) it brought back to life the triad of sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll in an era, the '80s, when everyone was cheerful fools put there to say nonsense or have fun, with the convenient excuse of the rock band.

Having listed the main reasons, let's focus on the music. The Hard Rock of Guns'n'Roses doesn't really stray much from the Van Halen\Motley Crue model, but it's heavily influenced by it, yet creating a style that set a benchmark. The riffs of Slash and Izzy Mc Stradlin bring to mind the Stones and Zeppelin filtered through what is somewhat the attitude of the album and Guns in general, which is a rage halfway between the Los Angeles "glam" and the New York "punk". The compactness of the guitars, then, is among the best ever heard. Tracks like "nightrain", "Think about you", the almost ethnic touch from bongos in "Mr Brownstone"; the rage and perversion of "Paradise City", "Welcome To The Jungle" and "My Michelle" and also the raucous sweetness of a powerful and electric power ballad like "Sweet Child O'Mine" make "Appetite For Destruction" one of the greatest rock albums ever. We would have to wait for "Nevermind" to have another similar masterpiece...

 A CD that, in my humble opinion, changed the history of Hard Rock and beyond.

 Fantastic music that has the great virtue of surprising and moving at every listen without fading over time.

 It is the best-selling debut CD of all time, thanks to which the group topped all the charts.

 It will forever remain one of the best rock CDs, perhaps the last truly significant one in the history of hard rock.

 "'Welcome to the Jungle' is definitely a masterpiece of hard rock, decisive riffs, Axl Rose’s vitriolic voice, a solo as technical as rude."

 "This CD might have sold more than warranted thanks to the Guns’ image, but it certainly does not deserve less in its genre."

 It simmered with anger, bled with pain, shivered with terror, oozed with passion, sobbed with love, screamed with hatred, and stood up with a non-heroic attitude that automatically makes heroes.

 The album was as fresh as a newly opened bottle of Jack Daniel’s.

 Appetite, indeed: an album that caused a sensation for its lyrical content but became a 'cult' for all the young people who wanted to start a rock band influenced by country, blues, and primordial punk.

 "Paradise City" ... all 5 Gunners are perfect in this song.
