Yes, this is a sort of exercise in style, a kind of cold therapeutic treatment applied to a matter that is, at the same time, recognized as foundational to a sonic aesthetic. In this sense, I've never perceived it as mockery; it’s more on the side of homage. I have all their LPs on vinyl, and the EP with Money. This is the most compact and easy (and it works on pre-existing material quite well) but I prefer the first one. To that one, I'd give a 4; here, a 3.5. I liked him right away, at first glance, a unique type.

Definitely melodic, quite "groomed," with a rather polite voice... From the description you provided (A rough, approximate, gritty, sharp, raw, and ruinous sound), I expected something more like a dagger; instead, I feel a lot of sweetness. I do agree with "...references to the 60s rock'n'roll, the pop instinct, the speed of execution." So I would probably have rejected the dish in the past, but today I prefer it this way; I gladly take a taste. Moreover, the melodic lines of the pieces I heard are simple yet not trivial; it may seem like little, but in certain contexts, it makes a difference.

Three book titles come to mind that offer interesting insights about boxing from different perspectives. The first one I liked a lot when I was a kid, and I see it’s still available used: it’s one of the early novels by the old George Bernard Shaw, and I’m quite fond of it. The third one is a true history of boxing, but it stops right at the Kinshasa match, and it’s written by a philosopher—perhaps a bit ā€œdated,ā€ yet rich and intriguing.

Damn, IlConte, you wrote it! For years, whenever I had the chance, I suggested the movie to the DeUtenti, but I never thought of writing a little page about it. You did well, it was necessary. I used to watch Cassius at night in black and white; I was allowed to do it because my father was also a fan. And that name, which he repudiated as a despicable legacy of segregation, I liked very much. The Kinshasa encounter came later when I was almost 15, and it made me suffer so much, it felt like I was in the ring "absorbing" all Foreman's punches instead of Ali; I thought he wouldn't make it. But what a moment, that slow, incredible, definitive fall of the giant to the canvas. And the endless 10 seconds counted by the referee before the triumph's delirium. - Well done, Conte.

For me, the album is a 3.5. As Willy rightly says, we are in an embryonic stage; significant things will come later.

I remember him too, of course, with the Housemartins and I knew nothing about this, but I do remember well the following creature, Freak Power, particularly the 1st, which I liked. So for all the DePassanti: Freak Power - Drive Thru Booty - 1994

IBS tells me that the Frassinelli edition is unavailable, but there’s a used Mondadori copy at Libraccio for € 4.86. If I find anything else to add to the order, I’ll do it. As for Gide's poems, if that's the case, I'll let you know.

The mere idea of Mark E. Smith under speedball is enough to keep me away. These are scenes I don't want to witness. However, the presence of the term "bolsa" is alluring...

Oh yeah, all that stuff happens and you tell us to get closer? Not a chance, with this pleochroic monolith it's better to keep your distance. But just look at the kind of advice: what if a sound wall coagulates on me? Maybe while supernova particle trails are passing through me. Oh, but you better watch out...
