Wim Mertens The Belly of an Architect

The film's soundtrack features tracks by Glenn Branca because it was he whom Peter Greenaway commissioned for the job. However, the nature of the New Yorker's music did not align with the director's aristocratic aesthetic vision, leading him to resort to the (non-original) music of Mertens. It is undoubtedly a pleasant album, which can be fully enjoyed even without any reference to the images, thanks to the juxtaposition of the music relative to the visuals—something generally impossible for a score. It also offers a delightful approach to the easier, melodic, and "lyrical" side of the Belgian's works, which is undeniably evocative.

This morning, on my way to work, driving the car, I thought: "Drop by the Shamen wasn't bad. I might just write a few lines...." I've had the vinyl since it was released and haven't listened to it (and hadn't thought about it) for years. Well, funny coincidence. - Record rating: almost 4 (if you've smoked 4, without almost)

Ocram, you arrive noticeably late and a bit too anxious. A few days ago, there was an "exchange" on this topic between me and Paolo: I pointed out to him that his vote would remove the page from the list of most appreciated, and he immediately requested the staff to delete his vote, a request that was not fulfilled. - Having invested too much (and towards Paolo with tones frankly too "hasty" dictated by the same disappointment that you seem to want to express) in this matter, I would like to share my opinion on your intervention: evaluations are subjective, absolutely unquestionable, if made without a blatant intention to offend for petty and sordid subterfuge (this too was the subject of an afternoon of discussions a few days ago). And after all, Paolo, or anyone else, can consider this page worthy of a 4 instead of a 5. It's in the logic of a simple and imperfect tool like that of votes, if applied with transparency and "honesty." And Paolo has shown that this was his attitude. Of course, it’s a pity for the "average" of this page, but it is now a choice of the staff. And I say this as someone who redirected the readers of their review to this one the day it appeared. And who has been a nuisance (insistently) to ensure that it returned to the top of the most appreciated, as it was until a few days ago. Someone who is greatly struggling with the exponential rise of the level of squalor they perceive on the site, due to quite different presences and behaviors, not just a "wrong vote." Someone who is now stepping aside and saying goodbye. Bye, JoP.

Mopaga: 1. "Masterpiece" is an absolutely overused term, stripped of meaning, so much so that in about a year and a half of DeB, I don’t think I've ever used it. Imagine if I would for a silly and nice little song like that. - 2. Ironside was a TV series, starring, I believe, Raymond Burr, the same guy from Perry Mason, in a wheelchair (but I could be wrong, I don't "watch TV all afternoon"). 3. Yes, I also believe it can be harmful to read Piero's little pages if one doesn't have their own knowledge and opinions and some residual critical ability. And many "reviews" on DeBaser seem to testify to that. But it depends on who is reading, certainly not on Piero, who is just doing his tireless work (chasing an encyclopedic obsession). Bye, nè.

Well, of course, this is just my opinion. This is what it's about, opinions. The exchange of opinions, information, listening suggestions, impressions, and connections between things that sometimes seem completely distant. This is the best part of a place like DeB. But it would never even cross my mind to think that you or anyone else should "rewrite" your own page. Although, based on many considerations that could be made (and I really don't feel like it), the comparison still seems useless, misleading, and completely off the mark to me. You must have some reason (that escapes me) for considering it correct instead. Goodbye.

It's true, I had also noticed the laconic beauty of your profile. And I also followed your suggestion on G.Samsa (how could I do otherwise?) and Guillemots: they are great albums. I don't think I'll do it with these, but it doesn't matter. Regards.
