Well, Supersoul, your "response" seems to take into account others' misunderstandings, even when they aren't apparent: the reference to the "shortest" was your doing, not something the readers invented. The way you manage the page is less effective than it could be, in my opinion, given how you've written it. The outcome you declare, even in the post, is not achieved or at least not clearly (so much so that you have to try to explain it). In short, it's a bit ugly, not a tragedy..

As for imagination, you'll understand well that not much is needed to decipher your charming response, so I'll do without it: you use it however you see fit. I've had enough. Bye bye.

I don’t really feel like exerting myself to understand all the possible motivations behind the misinterpretation of others’ words and the attribution of intentions or attitudes by anyone: I replied to you, and without any arrogance, pointing out where you could find what you seemed to want to know, my opinion on a group. But at this point, I’m taking back the arrogance and courtesy and I’m handing them to you. Use them as you wish.

@UXO: yes, the discs mentioned are from '56 and in '57 Capitol released Birth of T.C.: this is what the (incorrect) citation of Capitol in my post refers to. - P.S. I notice you keep writing Hencock....

I dunno, Leonid, I'm not one of those who need to write treatises on para-philosophy every time they listen to an album: I couldn't care less about trying to make complicated evaluations and navel-gazing reflections to "place" albums within a band's production and the band within a specific "movement" of a genre, and then define that too and blah blah blah. Good for those who have the time and find pleasure in it. What I liked, I wrote in ten minutes after listening to the album. Clikki Battles, search for my page and there’s everything I had to say. Bai bai.

Nice album (3.5-4), great review.

Yes, Supersoul, some comments are legitimate: the premise that seems to want to remedy the brevity of the existing review does not find support in your page, which is equally elusive regarding the album. And the repetition of "uncle... uh... Master" is rather annoying, even in the context of the "funny" review, as someone called it. Of course, I know and remember the poster perfectly and immediately understood the reference, but I believe that, overall, it might be your worst page, especially in relation to the "goal" you seem to have set for yourself in writing it. It happens.

As already mentioned in the comments on other reviews, this record (which can't really be counted among his peaks but is one that I’ve listened to the most of Miles over the decades) is the result of a "necessity": it was released, like others (Walkin'? - Cookin'? - Workin'? - Steamin'?), during the transition from Prestige to a major label (Capitol, I believe) when the musician had resolved various problems related to substance use and had returned to vibrant form that manifested live, securing a contract with the previously hesitant major label. - It’s a very enjoyable record, among the titles I recommended as an introduction to many Davis newbies when I was pushing it, and it has always worked.

To Mr. Sorrisor: Vic Chestnut is a musician. So I don't think I dragged you into any dance, it was a phrase referring to the conclusion of the review (if you had read it, you might have understood) - I have nothing to say about rock and I don't have favorite musicians. Have a nice day.
