AA.VV. Festival della Canzone Italiana: prima (e per me ultima) serata
Voto:
In my opinion, the piece by Oxa is horrible, pompous and emphatic to give an arty air to the thing, completely out of measure but without having the ability to pull it off, nothing compared to Galas. Galas is an artist; this was one bad pose after another. One of those things done just to win critical awards: “why don't you vote for me, this is art,” that kind of deal. Obviously, she doesn't have the slightest sensitivity to understand that emotion doesn’t depend solely on how much you scream or pose.
The piece by Venuti, much less pretentious but far more sincere and mature in avoiding certain gratuitous excesses so in vogue at the Ariston (screams and hearts in hand galore), is a modest song, the best of what I've heard.
Welcome back, Sodo :)
Afterhours Live Con Scazzottata Al Filmore 24/02/2006

Damn, but beyond liking or how much you might dislike it, what would you do in front of someone who provocatively taunts you for half an hour? Honestly, I don’t know. The sample, however, is the best thing this month on Debaser, thanks to anyone who uploaded it.
George Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue - Piano Concerto in F - An American in Paris
Voto:
in full bloom? I've only caught a whiff of Gershwin, but I need to really listen to him because what little I know I like a whole lot. I know that in the jazz scene he wasn't loved by everyone though (Miles among others), who reproached him for selling jazz out to the whites.
Ali Farka Toure with Ry Cooder Talking Timbuktu

one of the few times I don't agree with Odradek. I mean, it doesn't seem like such a transcendental record to me. But great mention, and great review, as always (why do I even need to say that).
Oasis Wonderwall (singolo)
Voto:
Wonderwall the greatest song of the '90s? oh, it doesn't move me, not at all.
Tim Fite Gone Ain't Gone
Voto:
It would be a 5 just for the effort put into the little pieces :)
Heather Duby Post To Wire

ege, the reference to Lycia feels a bit forced to me. More dream pop than gothic, as far as I remember. Great album, very well-crafted even though it's a bit slow. I’m torn between a three and a four, so I’ll give it a three and a half in memory of the album. A somewhat silly rating, therefore :)
Yngwie J. Malmsteen Trial By Fire - Live in Leningrad
Voto:
You said it yourself, only for Malmsteen fans. I don't know why, but I know this album by heart.
Frank Zappa We're Only In It For The Money

I reread it... I think that for chrome plated you need to listen again following the instructions, that is, read the penal colony and the story in the booklet about the concentration camps for hippies, freaks, and communists that were secretly set up in the United States.
After that, it's clearer to understand the difference between ridiculous as you call it, and grotesque.

Four on the record, which for sentimental reasons would be 7, since I grew up with it. A bitter record, musically it sounds like a party, but it’s the exact opposite, filled with idiot children, domestic violence, and concentration camps. Listening to Chrome Plated after reading "In the Penal Colony" by Kafka, as it says in the booklet, is truly chilling. Great record.
