Cat Stevens Mona Bone Jakon
Voto:
I read the review and enjoyed it very much, before noticing the author. Then I saw it was you, and everything became clear. I would just like to know if one day you will also review Teaser And The Firecat. Only then will you be able to put a (first) full stop to our Stevensian passions. Thank you anyway for giving us these two in the meantime.

Anyway, between this and Remain In Light there's an abyss. Better not to disturb it, we might risk letting Pop gather dust again.
Paolo Conte Elegia
Voto:
I saw Conte less than a year ago, and personally, he still seemed in good shape to me. Of course, now he is assisted by many collaborators, especially regarding the planning, but it’s always a high-level performance. A great return of Elegia, certainly different from what we expected. Congratulations on the heartfelt review.
Grace Jones Nightclubbing

Well, great choice. And even though Warm Leatherette and Slave To The Rhythm are fantastic albums, Nightclubbing is a true manifesto. Congrats again, Andrea!

Putting aside the fact that the cover looks more like a nod to the Power Rangers and their iconic colors... But indeed, this is a high point in U2's career. Here they have definitively surpassed the pillars of pop, leaving behind all the certainties of previous years, finally in a new sea. Being the most radical change compared to Achtung Baby, while still becoming the ideal continuation of the insights from Zooropa, it was only logical to hurt themselves, stumble, and fill themselves with flaws. But all of this is worthy of courage and admiration. Unfortunately, the album was so snubbed (I bought it and was almost ashamed to bring it home!) that U2, being the good business machines they are, rolled up their sleeves and made a U-turn. You decide whether the times of Discoteque were better or those of Beautiful Day.
Morrissey You Are The Quarry
Voto:
This album isn't a major comeback because it's been hyped up by critics. But because it features memorable, brilliant songs, and Morrissey is in great shape. I understand El Guevo's reaction, as this reads more like a sabotage from someone who doesn't appreciate the Smiths and that bothers him. I, however, admit that I was partially influenced by others' comments before listening. But those comments came from friends (rightly surprised and enthusiastic), not from newspapers. From Punisher, you can do better.
Brian Wilson Smile
Voto:
We waited for this album for years, and few records could become a gift like this one has been. I don't have the bootlegs, but I have Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile, which are wonderful, and above all, unique. This isn't evergreen music; it has an expiration date. Hearing Brian now is remarkable but not the ultimate experience. But these songs are immortal, they are beauty in its purest form. And I think it's a duty to transmit, to communicate, to give beauty. Especially when it was us, one day many years (and neurons) ago, who created it.
Bronski Beat The Age of Consent

Great choice. A hidden gem of the most pop-gay '80s. More than an album, it's a time machine.. 5 for the choice, 3 for the review.

Big Big Big. A cult for the teen poppers of the late millennium, amidst Titanic, Bittersweet Symphony, the duels between BS Boys & Five, OK Computer, and Britney Spears who didn't even exist yet... Barbie Girl unmatchable.
