The other day, by chance, I was dusting off some old CDs and I found an album a bit aged, but it holds many memories (along with it, I found the Spice Girls album).
Aqua is a Danish band (except for the Norwegian singer) that made its debut in the pop world with their first single in '96 "Roses Are Red", but became famous worldwide for the lawsuit filed by Mattel against them for the song "Barbie Girl", which was considered an offense against the doll. They were subsequently acquitted.
The album "Aquarium" was a massive success throughout Europe upon its debut, and the reason is easily found; simple melodies, Lene's exuberant voice, great rhythm, hints of the '80s style, imaginative videos (I remember they almost always ended with a kiss between Lene and Rene), and a lot of publicity.
However, in the CD, there are, in my opinion, two songs that stand out from the others, perhaps because they are a bit slower and more melodic where the singer lowers her voice a few tones. These songs are "Turn Back Time" (soundtrack of "Sliding Doors") and "Good Morning Sunshine".
By now, this band has fallen into oblivion, as was easily foreseeable, but it is perfect for those, like me, who listened to this CD at the end of childhood and wants to relive memories that otherwise could not be relived...
The journey with Aqua turns out to be more varied and even more exciting than expected.
Let’s abandon our seminal albums for a moment and dive into idiocy, the never-unpleasant foolishness, the 'more Latin than Nordic humor.'
